Hey guys, I just received this explorer last night for a good wash and wax. The interior and engine is fairly clean, but the outside is a different story. It needs a good decontamination and claybar. Not doing any correction on this one (hopefully one day I will be able to do this). I will post the finished pics later tomorrow. Enjoy!!
Here are the pics guys .... I went with Collinite 845 topped with Natty's Red. I think it turned out really good considering there was no correction done. Interior: Vinylex LGM with Folex Zep Citrus Dilluted 10:1 Exterior: Meg's Gold Class with 2oz of Zep Citrus AutoMagic Blue Clay with Zaino Wash as lube CG's Bare Bones Black Wow and Stoner's Trim Shine Rain X Stoner's Glass Cleaner Eagle A2Z rim cleaner OS for the rims Zaino Tire Gloss Collinite 845 Natty's Red Z6 wipedown between coats Engine S100 TCW CD-2 Numerous Uber towels and lowe's brushes Sorry for the pics ... I used my bro's camera and it's not focusing right. :sorry:
Wow Gianni, that looks flawless, I'm sure the customer was ecstatic! BTW, that is the ugliest pinstripe I've ever seen on the car. For a second I thought there were scratches on the front of the hood.
Could you please elaborate? LOL I call it "wash & wax" 'cause I don't do any correction yet, but I pretty much do everything else. I love doing this and the extra money doesn't hurt either.
The guy bought this SUV used and he really hates it ... the worst thing is that it's flaking off really bad. I had to watch for the paint flakes during the claying process. It's in really great shape for the year. The interior was really clean ... the paint on the other hand ...:gasp:
That looks very nice! My wife has one, just a year older. I'm surprised that the middle arm rest hasn't cracked yet, they are notorious for falling apart...
Thanks ... the arm rest was spotless on this one. I used to own a '99 and the armrest was like new and it had 80k when I bought it. I really like explorers even though there's nothing special about them. It was my winter beater when I lived in the Midwest.
Ha you should find out how to remove it and do it for extra money :applause2: Seriously. If it's old paint (or a really dried out vinyl?) it should be pretty easy to remove.
I thought about doing this, but I didn't have time or patience to do it. I offered to do some correction/pin stripe removal next year and he's gonna wait until then.
Thanks for the comments guys. The white paint really brightened up after this good cleaning. I'll be monitoring the longevity of 845 in a few vehicles because all my "customers" work with me. I really liked the natty's red over collinite. It gave additional wetness to the 845. I also learned how difficult is to improve depth in a white paint without the proper paint correction ... I NEED A ROTARY SO BAD!!!
