These were pretty cheap when I got them $30 for 4 if I remember correctly. You can even get away with using grout sponges from Lowes or HD if you method is right

I stopped using wash mitts when I realized that Uber sponges are way easier to see contamination, easier to clean off, and are way cheaper and more durable than wool mitts.

 

Best value under $20 is the Megs MF washmitt. Great durability, easy to see crud and rinses out very easily.

 

I also switched from wool mitts to sponges. I currently use grout sponge and zymol sponge, both cheap options (uber sponge is also good from what I hear). I like to soap up the sponge and squeeze the soap solution over the car so theres a nice surface of soap water before it makes contact. Wool mitts were nice but I found I had a tendency to be more careful with them when cleaning after my first one fell apart and it was not cheap. I use a mf mitt for bottom panels.

 

I gotta agree, the uber sponge is the best media Ive found, The CG wash pad is not bad holds a huge amount of sudz, but you get any dirt in it you are digging it out with tweezers. I ordered a Montana Boars hair brush for my new truck, I hope its as good as they say.

 

Which variant did you opt for? I have their wheel brush, but have yet to use it. I guess I didn't even realize they have a wash brush (or 10...), but it makes sense for a brush, because that hair is soft, even before being dipped in water.

I have not heard anything bad about them, or anything good.. I wanted to order it and see how soft it was, if it is not of good quality ill return it. I have read about other variants before being used, the trick is keep them wet and full of sudz, and even to go as far as pre foam, rinse, pre foam again and while the foam is sitting, dip brush in soap bucket and wash, the extra layer of foam from the pre soak will help buffer any possibly marring you may get.

we shall see.......... I do not for see any negative issues, or it doing any worse then a synthetic wash pad might do.

 

Grout sponge - $1.69 at Home Depot, still using it after 5 years - it's turned a little darker than when it was when new, but still works great. BTW - I always wash/thoroughly rinse after each use, and let it air dry.

 

I have been using a brush and after polishing the surface of my black truck until it was a mirror, I applied 2 coasts of mpl wated a day and applied a layer of aghd, then washed a few days later and noticed straight line scratches from my wash brush, So its gotta go. I have a brand new grout sponge I will try tomorrow.

although it was probably more or less poor technique. no rinse bucket, than it was the brush. I normally also use one of these

The trick with brushes is they have to be really sudzed up, you never can have too many sudz, on the Suburban I have I foam, rinse, foam and while the second foam is dwelling I break out the brush, it really helps with any marring..... I had a brush similar to that one you had, then bit the bullet and got the boars hair, it holds sudz much better.....

 

I use a Pro-Line Grout Sponge, I do change them very frequently I probably go through 3 or 4 in a summer just doing my 3 cars and my parents 3. Going though my stuff I found 2 Uber sponge's so I'm gonna give them a whirl next time

ypu guys make me seem crazy. i have a adams wool wash pad. i use that and an uber spomge for the midline and up. then use lowes grout sponges midline down. i throw them out after 5 - 10 washes.

 

Ive been wanting to try adams wool wash pad, so its real wool?
