Not doing a big write up on the preparatin here, as you've all seen my car polished a few times by now - suffice to say it was clayed using Zaino Z18, then machine polished using Menzerna PO85RD Final Finish using one of the finishing pads Ben at Rubbishboys has got in (which are superb - review to come). Select sections were hit with Intensive Polish first - neighbour's cat used my bonnet as a bed, so some deeper marks to shift there but the rest was just given Final Finish to burnish the paint to as deep and crystal sharp a gloss as possible... Then, on with the test wax which has been applied over the course of this week - three layers in total, each separated by at least 24 hours. Application of the wax takes a little getting used to in that you cannot leave it on the paint for any length of time as you wont be able to remove it! So, apply to one panel (or say a third of the bonnet) and then remove right away. Any additional wax left can be removed by reapplying the wax again to soften it so it can be removed. Once cracked though its easy to apply and remove, and the oily feel of the wax means it spreads very easily though interesting it removed without showing any tendency to streak or smear which was a plus point... Anyway, how the car looks now: For me, comparing this to the Zaino I could argue there is a subtle difference here, which I could try to explain... whereas the Zaino looked crystal sharp with the machined finish, the flake pinging to its best, the Valentines wax seems to look "thicker", if anything slightly glossier... The difference is subtle and hard to describe, but in some ways I am preferring the look of the car now to how it looked previously though that may simply be because this is a fresh LSP layer on freshly machined paint and looking back at when Zaino was first applied, it also looked outstansing. The looks for me are subtly different: the sealent being more crystal sharp, the wax being a little thicker and glossier... Anyways, some more pics of the finish on the car: And for the arty... The beading is also impressively tight with very fast and complete water sheeting - I will demonstrate this in a later thread, as this weather ensued... and I wasn't for staying outside!! :lol: So, Valentines wades in at £95 so places itself firmly in the territory of waxes like ***** Glasur, Swissvax Best of Show and is likely to compete with Dodo Supernatural and Raceglaze 55... Off the bat it wades in very well: I enjoyed applying it, felt rewarded and felt that it finished off my machine polishing efforts very well. Feeling glaze heavy, the slight addition to looks reminds me in some ways of Best of Show - a little wettness but then it also seems to have a gloss that reminds me of Victoria Concours... For now - this is all I can say, but this wax will be assessed over the coming weeks for performance throughout the colder months, and I will report back. :thumb:
