I had the pleasure working on this 1974 Ferrari 365 Berlinetta Boxer V12 this past weekend. The vehicle was repainted in single stage Glasurit back 25 years ago and hasn’t been machined polished in 18 years. Upon inspection the paint was in better condition than most new cars today! There was limited amount of contamination and swirling. And before I get too far into this, yes the car gets driven :). At first it was a little intimidating but then I was able to focus and find the correct polish and pad combination to get the finish back to new.

At first I started with the UDM and a 5.5” Lake Country CCS polishing pad with Menzerna 106FF. It did a fair amount of cutting on this single stage paint but wasn’t quite enough. I then bumped up to Wolfgang Finishing Glaze 3.0 with a low profile 5.5” Lake Country orange cutting pad which wasn’t much better either and left some micromarring. Finally I busted out the 4” pads and Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover 3.0 and a Lake Country light cut pad. This removed all but the deepest swirling and left no visible micromarring. Some panels required a second pass with the TSR3.0. Since the finish was very nice just after the TSR3.0 I finished off with a 7.5” Lake Country finishing pad with Menzerna PO85U and a PC. The final polish really amped up the finish. The black lower portions of the car were polish by hand and UDM with 4” pads with various polishes, including Powergloss, SSR2.5, ProPolish and PO85U (depending on the panel). Finally a coat of regular P21S was applied after an alcohol wipedown. All that was included in this portion of the detail was the red and black paint. The rest will be finished this weekend.

    Cliff notes:
    S&W wipedown
    Clay
Wolfgang TSR3.0, UDM, 4" LC orange pads
Menzerna PO85U, PC, 7.5" LC blue pads
    P21s

Man I love the old school Ferrari's I find them to be very good looking vehicles but that's just me.

Now I'm really curious about this, you sai dyou used Wolfgang Finishing Glaze 3.0 with a Orange LK pad?? Just curious why you did that, I mean Glaze has no cutting power...or does it? I've used the Woflgang Glaze....mind you I may have the old formula if it has been changed I honestly don't know  but any who I was just under the impresion that the Wolfgang Glaze was just that a Glaze?

Just wondering that's all. Hope you don't mind the questio :peace:

The Wolfgang Finishing Glaze 3.0 is more of a finishing polish than your traditional glaze. It is very similar to Menzerna PO106ff. I have not noticed any glaze properties after using the product several times.

Thanks for the comments everyone else! The car was in excellent condition before hand but after a little polishing, it improved the look considerably.

Well as promised, here are some more pictures of the completed vehicle. It now has 2 layers of P21S regular and one coat of the new P21S 100%. I don't have too much else to add except the wool carpets received Folex, all of the leather got Leatherique, windows received Invisible glass. The engine only got a S&W wipedown as it will most likely be pulled for service this winter. The wheels were polished by hand with Bush Aluminum polish and the tires were lightly dressed with a water based dressing. The pictures really don't do the car justice, the paint was bright red in direct sun but then got deeper as the sun went behind a cloud. In a few minute period the car seemed to change appearance deepening on the sun. Anyways here are the rest of the pictures!

Thanks for the comments! I'm surprised no one has commented about the cars in the background. One will be detailed next week (and it's not the BMW :thumb:), pics will come at that time .
