Not a full write up here of the detail process, as this car like my one has little in the way of defect correction to be carried out, just tidying up really, and a chance to show some results with Vintage and share my thoughts about it...

As Bryan happened to come across some ***** Vintage, we decided it would be a good time to give his car a thorough going over and try out the Vintage wax on a whole car and see if it comes close to being worth its price tag... just for fun :)

Bryan carried out the majority of the paintwork correction work on his car using his Porter Cable and a combination of Meguiars #80 and Menzerna PO91L on more severe marks... I arrived later in the day (work commitments alas), and went over the corrected areas with Menzerna PO85RD Final Finish with a finishing pad by rotary to give the finish as best clarity and deep gloss as I could manage to give the Vintage the best possible base...

Some pics during the preparation stages...

The quality of the machine finishing - these pictures show the finish after machine polshing only, no cleanser or wax:

Bryan then applied the wax by foam applicator:

It was left a good ten minutes then I removed the residue with a microfibre towel... after just one layer, I confess that I saw little if any tenable difference to the finish - similar to ***** Concours really, evidence of s slight silvery bling but that was it really...

So at this stage I left for work a little disappointed... Bryan then spent the rest of the day applying two further coats of Vintage and when I arrived back at around 6pm, he was just finishing a Field Glaze wipe down, so I got some pictures of the car completed with three layers of Vintage applied:

Tyres were treated to Meguiars Hot Shine, and wheels with two layers of wheel sealent (Poorboys and Chemical Guys):

    And there we have it...

My thoughts: after three layers there was a difference that you could see over the machined finish - not really to the clarity, or indeed the depth of the finish in my eyes - the difference was with a silvery glint across the paint, reminiscent of ***** Concours but a little more pronounced... It, I have to say, was not ultimately to my taste but that it made a subtle difference to the finish cannot be denied and it certainly did compliment the machine finishing which delivered the vast vast majority of the finish you see in the pics. Personally, I prefer the wet look nuance offered by Swissvax Best of Show or better still the sheer depth and glass like appearance of the Zaino system - both nuances the Vintage lacked in my eyes, but it went a long way to making up for it with the silvery glint it offers!

I wouldn't personally add this wax to my collection however, as for me, there are better products on the market that deliver a finish that suits my personal tastes.. but I did end the day convinced that the Vintage did have a little something to offer the finish. Alas, I also left the day convinced that the far cheaper Concours, on a well prepped finish, looked the same in real world terms.

All in all though, I was very happy with the machine finish on the car, and its got a good depth and gloss to it :)
