I was just asked by a member on pm to explain the valuguard 3 step decon wash. Rather than letting all that typing go to waste (on only one member I mean) I thought I would post my response.

Mike..ya, no problem, man. The valuguard 3 step is an acid, alkaline and regular (neutralizing) wash. The first step you mix 8 oz of product for every gallon of water and wash the car as you normally would. The exceptions are that the metal needs to be cool..that's why I will often do it early evening before the sun goes down. I use a SEPARATE wash bucket (got it for free from my baker..flour comes in those and they have no use for them after). I also use a dedicated wash mitt for it as well. I use nitrile gloves for the 1st 2 steps of this process. The product needs to be in contact with the paint for at least 5 minutes, 5-7 is recommended. I usually go around the car once and then go back around quickly. That ensures even and complete coverage. It also takes care of the dwell time. You then powerwash off this product. You now dry ONLY the top surfaces and glass, the rest you leave.
Next step is the alkaline wash. You do not mix this with water. The kit I bought came with a sqeeze bottle like a ketchup bottle. The kit also came with a white pad that is kinda rough...I have used it but truthfully, I don't trust it, so I use a foam applicator pad to apply this product. It needs the same dwell time as the 1st. I put it either on the pad and apply to the paint or it apply it directly to the paint and spread it around. You need to be careful with this stuff...not on glass..not on trim..not on convertible tops. After dwell period, powerwash it off. After this comes the regular wash. If you buy it as a kit, no biggie, but if you were to buy them separately, don't bother getting the "C" product. Just use any ph balanced soap like DG or Optimum. After drying the paint will feel squeaky clean. Use the baggie test on areas to ensure claying is not needed. You will love the results! Good Luck and let me know how it goes when you try it.

How much is this system? I've looked at the Finish Kare one, but haven't researched it at all.

I have the Motorcraft part #'s at home. I cannot use the search function at work for some reason, but if you do a search of posts by al-53 with either abc, decon, valuguard, etc you will find the thread where he posts the mastercraft part #'s. The same thread should also have a link to valuguard if IRC.
