Thinking of buying a foam attachment for my Karcher washer. If I use it on the car after rinsing the car, do I need to hand wash the car as well. Wouldnt using the foamer on the car and then drying it be just the same as car wash at the gas pump?? Just wanted to get the attachment to save time on cleaning the car properly as my car usually has some dirt even after hand washing the car and I dont want to wash twice b hand.
Well I'm no expert on the foam guns because I've never used one but from what I've read and members here have shared the whole purpose of the foam gun is to loosen the dirt/contamination from the surface of the vehicle. So you apply the foam let it duel for a few minutes, give the vehicle a rinse then with the two bucket method you wash the vehicle...again thats just what I've read here.
From what I've read you don't save any time. You just have to much fun playing. If you're not working on a car.:thumb:
it only eliminates the soap bucket compared to a two bucket method. You still have to actually WASH it. It's just another means of getting plenty of lubrication.
It adds time, but it is another precaution. That's the main premise of detailing. The more time you take, the better it look/is protected. It's mainly used as a pre wash tool. You can use it and eliminate the soap bucket, but some people don't like all of the suds and wind up using a bucket with soap and no suds in it to wash.
Ya can also use it to apply and APC or something like TAW for the prewash, makes it easy to spread product
As Nica said, the purpose of the foam gun is to loosen and remove as much road grime etc from the paint BEFORE washing it by hand, preferably using the TBM. You are trying to lessen the chances of inflicting any scratches in your paint. And yes, with the right soap, its a hell of alot of fun. And your neighbours thought you were nuts before!
