I've heard more recently than before that people are using QD as a means to aid drying. Can someone elaborate on their system?:chips:

I just spray as I wipe dry to help lubricate and add insurance to avoid any MF-induced marring, if it should happen.

Does it also help prevent water spots?

I find the surface becomes completely dry faster than if I were to not use the QD. but I also have hard water where I live, so my results may differ.

My method is simply to mist before I touch the surface with my WW MF. It seems to really speed up the drying process, since it - for me - seems to help the mf absorb the moisture faster.

I mist the area right before drying it also. Might help some in reducing water spots, but that's also the point of drying the car, isn't it? :D

I do this sometimes, but not until I've passed over the vehicle once with drying towels. To spray QD all over a wet vehicle seems, to me, a bit wasteful - like you're diluting the QD as a result of spraying it onto all that water. Usually, if it's a "normal sized" vehicle, I do this:

    - One pass with a large MF drying towel
    - Second pass with a second large MF drying towel plus QD

I should also mention that this is just what I do with my own vehicles. If I'm doing one for a customer, I know I'll be claying after the wash, so I don't bother with the QD. Seems wasteful to me.

Has anyone noticed drying with a QD tends to clog WW MF towels reducing their effectiveness over time?

I like the thought of drying with added precautions and lubrication from a QD but don't want to ruin the WWs over time. Maybe boiling the towels could recover the effectiveness?

I do this on EVERY vehicle.... i basically spray the vehicle down with QD while wet, especially the windows... prevents water spots and helps to loosed the water out of cracks.

And most times I also mist the drying towels with QD as well to help drying.

And it has not ruined any of my drying towels to date. Most QD's you can dilute 1:1 which i do...
