I purchased the fire hose nozzle from Phil in the summer when adding to an order to meet the minimum just to see if I what what people liked about fire hose nozzles.

I have used it twice and noticed the water flow is very high but I do not get that pointed pressure spray that I get from my simple multi-position sprayer. In the sprayer position, the stream is not that focused as it could be to get that blast I was thought people were getting. My house water pressure is decent.

I was going to take some pictures but now it is cold so not much chance to use it again.

take some pics when you can I love the firehose nozzle and I feel that we get a good strong steady stream of water.

I have a fire house nozzle (not from DD) and noticed the same thing. Its nice, but I like the regular "pull handle" sprayer for a direct stream of water.

I like the firehose nozzle, rugged, sorta one hand operation. The one thing I would change about it is when you first turn nozzle on.Its full blast.I would like to turn on and have it go from gentle to full.Am I being dumb?:bla2:LOL

I just set mine to the desired pattern and use one of these to control the on and off

There are a couple fire hose nozzles available that have a built in on-off switch in the handle.

I haven't used it personally, but I heard the Adam's fire hose nozzle is very good. It's a little bit on the pricey side though.

I have 2 Fire Hose nozzles, 1 of the usual suspects and one Ultimate nozzle. Only difference is the Ultimate shuts off either way you twist it. They both have good flow and a variety of patterns and are just about indestructible. Excellent for sheeting, as you noticed, not so good for blasting.

Those of us in a winter climate need a nozzle that you can get up under the wheel well lips and blast the crud out. Fire Hose nozzles don't make the grade in that respect. I found a 2-pack of Gilmour nozzles on a cheap deals site unlike any I've seen before or since...they have a thumb-push rear flip-up lever that's a bonus for one-handed operation. One was the usual multiple dial pattern nozzle, the other is a more standard nozzle with an adjustable spray tip. Best nozzle I ever used! Wide open to sheet, narrows down for serious blasting. And it survives a beating throwing it on the ground. Obviously discontinued as Gilmour no longer lists them. See 'em every once in a while in hardware stores.

Yup I agree... that would be especially usefull when you first turn it on to fill a bucket of water with soap....

I would have designed it differently ... but is still a good unit...

I feel the same way. It starts blasting everthing in sight.

i love mine, its unreal how much water it dumps out at the lower settings, perfect for drenching a car...... plus its great if you dont want to pull out the sprayer.......
I have a overpriced craftsman, but ive seen them for less.

@ legacy, it should be able to turn off from the lowest setting as well, just keep turing it until it shuts off...... should cycle from high to low too off..... atleast the craftsmans do. My wife destroyed some plants with my firehose, i left it on the high pressure side....... OPPS.

Dont think mine will, but I'll try with a little more pressure.

Yeah this is the best tool for the money. I also purchased the quick shut off valve, and the quick disconnects. I would never go back to any other nozzle and swapping out to foam gun with the quick connects and shut-off valve couldn't be easier.

And I actually like how the uber nozzle works. OFF to Full blast to light shower

I am interested about the Adams fire Hose Nozzle but i would never pay $50 for it.

But does it flood? If not it's useless.

I would assume it would. Not that I use them to flood anyway. I have somethime I use for that .

The Gilmore 2 pack is available at Lowes for $10 it looks like a good set. The fire hose ones make my day when I drop it and at full pressure shoots me in the face and I look like an assclown chasing it down. I have insane water pressure here.LOL

Those Gilmours have the traditional hand levers. On the 2-pack I got the whole top rear of the nozzle is covered by a flip-up shroud. Best feature, IMO. Never get blasted in the kisser when I drop it like with traditional levers. Like I sez, never seen anything like 'em before or since.
