I have a friend who's car hood was repainted in April this year, the hood was a carbon fiber material. Just recently,a crack line appeared 4 inches in width, east to west, right above the front edge of the hood. Whats odd, is that the paint rose up so you can feel the top of the crack, sort of like the paint buckeled up. Any suggestions to remove this. We can't go back to the shop who performed the work, they are now out of business. (economy) If it was a scratch, i could deal with this, but i have'nt come across this situation before. Taking any suggestion. Sorry for lack of camera and pics. Thanks guys.
does it look like paper that is frayed? ----------------- Off-Topic, but related if so, thats the result of using poorly made contruction. a PROPER carbon fiber hood has a fiberglass frame/brace similar to OE, with a honeycomb contruction sandwiched underneath a sheet of fiberglass with a "wet" carbon fiber sheet that is wrapped over the edges to prevent "splitting" ----------------------- if its just the paint that has curled up slightly where it cracked, then thats the result of improper prep
Thanks for the input. The lower cracked area i may be able to work out, since its smooth to the surface, but the area thats raised is a little beyond correction i think. I thought the same also about either improper prep, or being a carbon fiber hood that the hood expanded from expansion and contraction, that something had to give? I thought it be wise for input prior to making a decision.
