Um...not sure how to bring this up...

Okay well I went to visit Auto Geek like I normally do when I have time and I received this PM from Meghan:

"Admin had me go in and remove your signature. Was brought to our attention the forum and car care web site you were promoting in your signature has been asking members through our PM service to come over and join. If it was just a forum it would not be a big deal but since it is directly linked to detailersdomain.com (a competitor) it is considered against the rules. We ask that our members are not solicited on our site to join the forum and/or store. If it continues the PM privileges of those involve will be halted.
Thank you"

So I responded back to Meghan apologizing about my signature and didn't realize I was breaking any rules. I'm not overly upset about it and I actually don't mind Meghan sending me the PM, I thought it was quite nice of them to actually send me a PM notifying me off the removal of the signature :thumb:

The reason why I'm posting it here is for some of you that are inviting some of your friends to come over to this forums (first of all thank you) but just be cautious as to how you go about inviting them, Meghan made it clear that AG does not want there members to be solicited and that's totally understandable. I would react the same way.

Like I said I personally don't mind this PM that Meghan sent me and prior to putting the link on my signature I was a bit hesitant about the it but after seeing other members putting there links on the signature leading to there own website I “assumed” it was okay.

Now please don't take my post the wrong way, I'm just posting it up for members that are inviting there friends from other forums (not just AG) to be careful that's all. By no means am I posting this to start an "I hate AG" thread, nor will I let it go that route. Just a heads up that's all.

Well... don't know what to say on there defence but lets just be carefull that's all. I can understand where they are coming from and they live by there rules this site lives by different rules...when your at there house you have to live by there rules and your on this site you live by different rules.

Yeah I can understand where they are coming from with the competitor links and what not... it's not even bout detailing bliss, it's about eshine and detailers domain. so don't take it personally

Ok Zoran don't go reading more into this than need be... it's a legit thing AG is doing. And like Nica said, if you play in their house, you must play by their rules or there will be consequences, just like here. But this forum is not brand specific as is AG's.

 

Zoran...most PM's are in a log....and can be read by Admins and mods....I know for a fact..as one time I PM'd someone on Detail City about the Mod they had called Fuzz...well a day later he brought it up to me as he was reading the PM logs and seeing who said what....

I understand what when you're in AGs house, you must play by their rules.

But DAMN, they are so worried about losing business left and right on really petty stuff.

All the "good" posters have left their board anyways, or at least are posting a lot less.

 

Yes, you are correct Dust2Glory. It would have been perfectly fine with AG if the forum was just a forum but because eShine and Detailers Domain support the forum then AG sees them as competators and there for is agains AG rules. I just never thought of it as that way but fair is fair, it's all good :chest:

Yea I was under the same assumption, with the way the privacy law is now I thought this was a no no owell like I said nothing to worry about...just thought I'd share so no one gets in trouble that's all eace:

Zoran: whether or not Nica's actions caused harm to AG or if it was "wrong" is not the determining factor in using this term . While I totally agree Nica has done nothing wrong, the potential informant (aka snitch) obviously thought so and provided information to AG which in my book ='s a snitch.

If this was how the information was provided to AG it does not matter if at the end of the day no harm was done or if and DB members actions were "wrong", the person turned themself into an informant which is synonymous with snitch.

If it walks like a snitch and talks like a snitch...yup it's a snitch

EDIT: With all that said I am a proponent of abiding by the rules of your host so as I have said in the past and as Nica has said - It's there house, they set the rules and dealer takes all

 

Nica I guess you could take it as a compliment as no one usually has concerns with something that is not doing well or not prospering!

But to be honest I'm not overly concerned with it, it's AG rules I'm perfectly fine with that. I just felt kinda bad because I didn't want to come accross as being disrespectfull to AG or trying to steal there members that's all.
