    Hey guys,

I had a polishing session over the weekend, I had some new uber greens I wanted to try and I they worked great on Saturday, sunday I ran out of polishing pad and decided to use a trick I do with LC pads which is take the cleaned pads (sitting over night in APC and scrubbed) rinse them let them air dry for a couple of our and then run on the rotary at 1500 RPM to get all the water out. I used the pad conditioner brush to get out some of the surface dust that might have settled on the pad and next thing I know, pieces of foam are flying out of the pad.

This incident made a couple of uniform grooves where I was using the pad conditioner brush, was my speed to high for these pads. Do you guys use pad conditioner brushes on these pads?

the conditioning brush always fucks up my foam pads. there werent chunks flying off, but it definitely did some damage to any foam pad I ever tried it on. I use a soft toothbrush and it works alot better.

Clean foam pads with mfs. Brushes are for wool and mf pads.

I use APC and just use my hands to work it out and then rinse.

You were pushing too hard. Gentle pressure muscle man. I will give you some great pad cleaner when you get your PC.

I run it under hot/warm water and an APC or soap to clean my pads. I massage it in with my hand until the water coming out is clear and the pad looks clean. After which I wring it out, then spin dry on a rotary or D/A for 15 seconds at a decently high speed(5 on the D/A, 5-6 on the rotary) to spin out most of the remaining water. They are still slightly damp but useable, although I typically just let them dry and switch pads.

Brushes will always mess the pad up. I use an old toothbrush if anything.

^ I do a very similar process to Darkstar752. Instead of APC, I like to use Zep Citrus which seems to effectively take all the gunk out. I use an old toothbrush during polishing to remove gunk but I barely press it on the surface while I set the PC to speed 1. While cleaning, I use an Ikea brush that several members here use for tires and lightly brush it out from the centre. I've never had a problem with the foam deteriorating as a result of this procedure. The majority of my pads are Buff & Shine too.

That guys, I'll try methods described next time. I'll reserve the pad brush for my MF pads, I'll probably use the cleaner Bryan give me first though :D

I always handwash my pads right after i use them, most of the time hot water melts any polish away, then i spin them up on my Da to get most of the water off, i now have chemical guys pad cleaner which is great, i mist them a couple times with the cleaner, put them face down in warm water, to soak for a bit, then work out all the polish with my hands, then spin dry. I think the secret is washing them or soaking them shortly after use, before the polish dries.
