Just a mini review of the Track Claw for now, however it will also be put on a my test car for longer term evaluation of some of the product claims... On the topic of claims, it does have quite a few on the bottle... will reduce lap times apparently, just what the Volvo needs!:lol: But seriously, I'm not sure the reduced drag is of much if any relevance generally speaking but what is of interest is the claim that it reduces dirt pick up. Now this is something more important to me, as this is something which generally speaking I find sealents are good at and a big advantage of sealents over waxes: the car stays cleaner for longer. I put this down to the tpyically slicker feel of sealents to waxes, and there appears a consistency between this slickness and dirt pickup. So a product like Track Claw that claims to be super slick may well prove to have a big advantage in this sense. Onto the application, it is being used on a Mercedes R-Class that I am currently detailing with Bryan (full write up tomorrow on completion of this car). The car, after machine polishing with 3M Fast Cut and refining with PO85RD Final Finish: Now, after playing around a little with the Track Claw, I felt that I was getting slightly better results from it - slightly slicker, and arguably a slightly deeper gloss - using it over the 601 Polish Bonding Agent... not sure if this is the technically correct way of applying it but it certainly seemed to work well for me So - 601 Polish Bonding Agent was applied by hand using a foam applicator pad onto the paint and the residue left. Track Claw was then applied over the top by hand using a foam applicator, and it went over the 601 nice and smoothly. The residue hazed within a minute or two and was removed with great ease after 5 minutes to reveal the following finish: Good luck spotting the difference in pictures! However, in the flesh a notable gloss was added to the finish looks wise, reminding me a lot of 111 or Z2. However, what was more impressive was the very slick feel of the paint after application. The product promises a very slick finish, and it certainly delivers even on first application and it has been advised to leave 12 hours for the full effect. I've not personally used a sealent (or wax) which has left the paint feeling so slick before, which gives me confidence on the reduced dirt pick up for the reasons outlined above... However, time will tell when this product is placed alongside the best Zaino can throw at it (layered Z2 with Z8, a combo known by me to reduce dirt pickup over waxes) in a side by side long term test. First impressions though - a very nice easy to use sealent that will hold its head high amongst the sealent kings like Z2 and 111, with a superb slick feel left to the paint. Good value for money as well, nowhere near the price of boutique waxes. And very easy to use
Thanks for the mini review there Dave! I've never heard of this product? I'm assuming it originates from your side of the pond?
I have talked on Track Klaw on here and AG..its a duragloss product...very slick..maybe the slickest sealant I have used..much slicker than UPP....has a great look also....can not beat it for the money....I was told it lasts like 3 maybe 4 months depending on enviorment and wsh soap harshness..its a flourocarbon polymer.... Shabybreal uses it alot also....he told me he was amazed how slick it gets...next day is the best just like the other DG sealants (polishes)....worth a try I tell you AL
Oh you guys are definitely right. I just checked out the DG website and I found the TrackClaw products there.
Now I have been told that it is lightly cleaning as well, but I wonder if it will respond to double layering...? Looked mighty fine with one, and three months durability from one layer is superb, but there is a certain comfort I find to layering a couple of layers...
the cleaning is not all that strong...as DG told me...any cleaners in the polishes will not remove a cured coat of a DG polish.so a second layer is possible.....except 501 marine..its a powerful cleaner... the cleaners are basicly to remove any fallout on the paint...so the solvents will disolve any exhaust or industrial fallout..to a point..by hand..machine use may amp the cleaning abilities do to the rapid orbital motion...and pad ... they are not abrasive cleaners in TK..... now look at this way..if a wax like Colly 845IW removes tar on paint..is it a cleaner wax....lol...the solvents in it disolve tar easy...most strong abrasive cleaner sealants will stain trim..just like cleaner wax..I have never had a DG product stain trim..I use it to clean window rubbers..lol....and black plastic trim AL
Well thats good to know, because I do like having a couple of layers on my cars - more comfort than anything else that protection is good
Dave..do not worry..just layer it..lol....when I called abiut layering 105 when I first got it from Jerry at DG..he said 2 layers is fine..3 would be over kill..so I did 3 layers to see what happens...during a weeks span..on solids it looked great..on dark metallics it started to sorta mute the flack on the 3rd layer..so 2 was prime..it looked great...so now I just do 2 layers..a day or 2 apart....Jerry said due to the new type polyner in 105 he suggests at least 12 hours due to it haveing both polymers and resins in it...to speed it he said just park in the sun and rewipe after a hour or 2 with a danpened MF with FC&S to remove any remaining residue form setting up... AL
NO....lol...but very very close....I think Rocket seal is a product all of its own....I just got a email from JL and showed a picture of the beading of RS..and it was super...and he did it in Feb....so its now July...thats nice....and the shine was as good as day one.... Track Klaw will due 3-4 months tops depending on weather areas....either rainy areas or dey areas.... the thing with sealants is the QUALITY of the polymers..whether they are bulk made or custom made...there are over 13000 formulas for these type polymers....and it depends on the company what they want....starting from the standard mix or the custom mix....most buy the polymers from companies who specilize in them..the mixers do not make them...some companies are GE....Dow...3M...Corning..Dr.O.K. Wack....and a big one in Japan.....The leaders in the polymer making is Germany as I was told..and RS polymer comes from Germany... AL
