Recently was contacted by a new client interested in improving the condition of his 2015 Toyota Tacoma. He brought it by the shop for an evaluation and I found the paint was really not looking its best. The truck was red with widespread swirl marks and for my seinfeld fans out there "a pinkish hue". It was only a year old so I had the feeling the dealer trashed this paint before the owner every had the chance to pamper it (owner was taking care of it since taking delivery). We discussed the expectations and the budget then agreed to a 2 step paint correction with sealant. The expectation was big improvement without 100% full correction. Just to be clear - I'm not claiming this is a full correction! There are definitely some leftovers. However, for the budget I think I did pretty well and therefore I'm sharing the results. When the truck arrived I knocked the usual prep routine: Wheels cleaned with Shine Supply "Cool Guy" Tires & wheel wells scrubbed with Shine Supply "Wise Guy) Vehicle was washed with Optimum "No Rinse" car wash solution Decontaminated with CarPro TRIX (to remove rust blooms, road tar, and any existing wax or sealant) This was followed up with the Optimum Opti-Clay towel (medium) with ONR as clay lube, then dried with a waffle weave towel. First things first - this truck has a lot of trim to cover! So I got busy with the masking tape skills Started looking over the paint and was reminded of the mess. Brutal! Did some test spots and settled on the following for my paint correction process Griots Boss / Griots GG6 / Porter Cable 7424xp (6, 5, and 3 inch pads respectively) Shine Supply "Classic Cut" + Megs MF Cutting Pads Optimum "Hyper Polish" + Lake Country white pads Results as follows Close up on the hood. Over by the gas tank Tailgate Front fender After the correction work was wrapped up we applied Shine Supply "Decked Out" at 1:1 for tires and wheel wells Shine Supply "Classy Chassis" for all exposed suspension components and frame Shine Supply "Trim Shield" for all exterior trim and tonneau cover Paint & glass was protected with Optimum Opti-Seal Glory Shots It all goes down here at the Home of the Swirl free finish in West Babylon, NY www.MrSparkleDetailing.com Facebook https://www.facebook.com/Mr-Sparkle-Detailing-Inc-390711084353956/ Instagram @MrSparkleDetailing https://www.instagram.com/mrsparkledetailing/
