    hi all,

1st post: am detailing in Belgium, went professional recently. This forum's been a big help sofar

I've recently bought a Tornador Cleaning Gun & used it a couple of times now. On interior / carpets it does a marvelous job; however, one thing still bothers me:

the TG seems to get all the deep sandy particles out of the carpet nicely, but them leaves them on top. so i still need to get my vacuum cleaner in

And then the dust n sand particles flying through the cabin while you're TGunning can't be good either, i presume

what's your experience in dealing with the TG on carpets?
would be glad to read your comments

    cheers, kriss

I hate it when you do that :giggle:

I thought about buying the Tornador as well but cant decide if its more effective compared to just spraying your console and leather cleaner of choice through a regular spray bottle.

i use a tornador at my full time detailing job almost every day. i find that the dirt and particulate flying around is something that just going to happen and theres nothing you can do about it. i the reason i use it in heavily soiled carpeting is to lift the dirt, sand, particulte, and grime up from inside the fabric. its basically being used in this fashion as a wet rapid agitation method. i vaccum after doing this every time anyways to remove the dirt AND some of the moisture left in the carpeting.

as far as the particulate flying around; you're using a tornador, so obviously you have access to a compressor right? here's my process start to finish:

-vaccum the interior (all the bigger stuff and dirt you can see)
-utilize the tornador to agitate/lift particles, dirt, sand, whatever
-remove tornador from compressed air line
-attach a "blower gun" nozzle or whatever similar attachment you might have and then go around the interior and blow off all surfaces thoroughly (dash, gauge cluster, vents, door cards, seats, UNDER and BESIDE the seats) to make sure any "flying dirt" is back down on TOP of the carpeting where you want it
-grab your vacuum and suck it all up (make sure not to forget the seats, and under and around the seats)

    hope this helped!

oh and welcome to detailing bliss!

its not really, at all. but there are a bunch of other uses for it that are definitely awesome. lifting dirt, grime, etc from carpeting, stain removal in those weird tight areas you cant quite get to, cleaning tough grime or filth that might be in the worst possible location ever in an interior that NONE of your brushes or fingers can get to, or even on the exterior to clean out compounding or polishing dust from panel gaps and trim. i use one at work with a bacterial enzyme cleaning agent on interiors and its amazing how it just blows stains and grease right out of carpeting, removes smells and odors, and fluffs up and restores matted or worn down carpeting. its invaluable for me at my monday-friday job.

    oh and another thing to keep in mind with these guys;

if you use it a good amount in an area of carpeting that is pretty dirty, the cone or "barrel" (if you think of it as a gun) where the product comes out, will become dirty on the inside. almost like muddy. this will slow the snake on the inside of it down and reduce the tools effectiveness. to fix this, just grab a bucket or something filled with water, stick the nozzle in the water, and give her a couple good blasts. it will clean it right out.

    @ billyblooshoes : thanx a lot!
I actually now am using the Tornador in one hand and the vacuum cleaner in the other, working one into the other

    1. blow out > 2. suck up
a bit of sleight of hand, but no more particles flying about !

I agree, it's a great tool for power use. can't compare to sprays etc

    back 2 work

    cheers, kriss

The product is made by a company called Ardex that makes really good commercial detailing products. The product is called Ardex Enzyme Digester.
