when applying tire dressing (white pearl) to my tires, is it normal for the applicator to turn black, or does this mean that my tires are not clean/still have old (megs hot shine gel...terribly messy stuff btw) dressing on them? thanks
Even cleaning the tires to 100% clean you will still get blacking of the applicator. That megs stuff is a PITA to get off, what are you using to clean the tire?
im currently using adams apc undiluted, but i guess im going to have to really scrub them this time. The worst part about applying the megs stuff was that it would get all over my hands and it was damn near impossible to get it off.
Just clean the heck out of it to get that crap off then once you start using White Pearl you will be good and will be easier to clean as it is not so sticky. Spray some APC, do a quick scrub then wait a minute and scrub the crap out of the tire with a stiff brush. That should get rid of that stuff, or hopefully does.
i will try that this weekend. White pearl is a dream to use as it doesnt make a mess and the finish is perfect. My favorite foam dressing applicator by far is the uber blue small dressing applicator from DD, its the most comfortable foam app that i have ever used.
I've been very happy with Meg's Super Degreaser on wheel wells and tires. Does a great job. My favorite dressing applicator is the swissvax pneu brush.
I have a gallon. Haven't got to use it much yet, as I received it this winter. Gonna have to try it out this spring!
Oh great, I've been using Megs Hot shine, the stuff that's in the spray bottle (not the stuff in the can)? It's all I could find, I figure I'll use it till I run out, and then find something better.
i have the gel version of hot shine. im not sure about the spray, but the gel is really messy and was a tad bit too glossy for my taste
Me loves Bleche White!! you should have seen how much crap it removed from my tires (highlander) when I used it last week. I didn't wash the truck for 4 months on purpose. 845 lasted 6 months without a single wash. The tires/rims were not that lucky ... lol
a) Carbon Black- protects the tyre against ultra violet radiation (UVR) by absorbing them and converting them into heat so it can be diffused safely. But the Carbon Black has a limited life-span because, as it does its job, it diminishes itself. As carbon black loses the ability to do its job, it turns gray. This is why rubber greys as it ages. When it is no longer there to protect the tyre, the original grey rubber colour starts to reappear.
The Hot shine spray would be really glossy, except I don't put much on the applicator. It's not too bad, also makes plastic trim look decent as well.
