Looking to upgrade from my current Adam's combo to Wolf's Hard Body and I need some input on what I have in mind to get the paint ready. Im thinking Menzerna FG400 on an Uber MF cutting pad followed by Wolf's Shine and Seal on an Uber Blue pad. I have a Porter Cable and for now I'm not planning on upgrading to a Flex or Rupes. Comments/suggestions?
I used the green pad for the shine and seal, IMO, and this is just me, S&S has some correcting abilities so its a great way to really bring out the shine before the HB. I don't see why a blue pad would not work.. Ive just always used a green one.
+1 on the green pad, since the previous step is pretty aggressive. The green pad will give you just a touch more cut and will finish out awesome with s&s. Be sure to do a wipe down after your cut before s&s and you'll be gold!
Thanks for the suggestions. Speaking of wipe-downs, is there any advantage to using Menzerna Top Inspection as opposed to a plain IPA?
Thanks for the suggestions. Speaking of wipe-downs, is there any advantage to using Menzerna Top Inspection as opposed to a plain IPA?
I just started using top inspection and I like it. I did a small test spot (under the front bumper where the clear bra was tucked in) with a 10% IPA mix and it clouded the clear bra so that's why I use top inspection.
I find Top Inspection easier to use on various surfaces. With IPA, you have to change around dilution ratios for different paints... I've heard great things about Carpro Eraser, but haven't tried it yet.
Your choices will work fine. You can use the blue pad if you already have it as the FG400 finishes down LSP ready by itself. I switched from IPA to Carpro Eraser as it was just easier to use. Doesn't require as much wiping to remove. Lightly mist the panel, don't soak it.
All my previous polishing gear is from Adam's so the only things I have to reuse are my backing plates and Porter Cable.
