Video of the June 29 early-morning crash involving a driver, who reportedly ran a red light at the corner of Westfield Avenue (Route 28) and Locust Street and was later charged with DWI, was posted on YouTube by the company that installed the camera, American Traffic Solutions. Roselle Park Police said the driver, Christian Irala, 29, of Elizabeth, was traveling in a 2001 Toyota Echo eastbound on Westfield Avenue at about 5:30 a.m. and ran the red light at Locust Street. Irala's car then hit a 1983 Oldsmobile Cutlass traveling northbound on Locust Street and flipped into the air, landing in the westbound lanes of Westfield Avenue.
That barrier actually probably saved his life, it absorbed the impact to the bottom of the car. If he had hit that pole he would have probably been killed. Still an Idiot for DWI.
I look at it differently: the barrier likely saved someone else's life by putting this drunk out-of-commission.
I could not agree with you more....... TOO BAD the barrier was there lol http://jalopnik.com/5925767/this-might-be-the-luckiest-russian-weve-ever-seen
