ive been ready alot about swissvax wax and i havnt heard one bad thing . most prefer it over any other wax!! so im going to give it a try . my quistion is i really dont want to drop 50 bucks on the paint cleaner from s/w can i just use my pinnicle paint work cleanser? i asume i can ........
Um...I can't see why not, I mean we used HD Cleanse (regular) and then toped it off with Swissvax Shield on the last vehicle we detailed...the reason we used HD Cleanse is because we thought that was all we had on hand. When we were done we found the Swissvas Cleaner fluid bottle  I try to stick to each products process though, the reason being is that I dont' want to affect the durability or the applycation process but HD Cleanse followed up with Swissvax Shield seemed to work just fine but that's just my :2cents: I'd say give it a try at least.
In my opinion most of the paint cleaners are all VERY similar. As long as the paint is properly prepped you will be fine.
Ok...I get confused at times reading some of the wax prep procedures...lol.. Now on the cleaning fluids..does the add to durability to the wax....if so how..does it have something in it to promote a catalyst process with the wax applies.... now if you say just polish the paint...get it to your liking and then say prep sol it to remove any residue and now you have Virgin paint surface..will the wax be less durable than say with the cleaner fluid use prior to waxing... Reason I ask is I may try a wax system this summer and want to know... So my question is...what does a cleaner fluid do if I have a vigin cleaned surface... Al
According to the wax manufacturer it is supposed to help the wax bond to the finish. Personally I do not think a wax will bond like a sealant does and suspect just like the percentage of carnauba this is all just marketing to get you to buy their brand PC. I think all the paint cleaner really does besides cleaning the paint is leave some oils on the finish which may improve the finish look similar to using a glaze but I suspect there is no bonding and very little additional durability if any.
Well see my understand of a cleaner fluid is that it will help the wax bond to the surface and supposedly it helps the durability..I don't have any proof of this um..but I remember Calgarydetail applied a coat of Zymol Concors on his vehicle with out doing any prep work...basically just a quick wash and dried the vehicle then slaped a coat of Concors. Well the following week we got together he reinsed the vehicle off and there was no beading, no nothing on the vehicle. The wax was gone..now it could have been becuase of all the salt in the roads, when he did this it was the worst time as it was snowing outside, lots of salt on the roads and so on...so I'm not sure if it was becuase of the no prep before or what but that's why I said it may affect the durability.
I am sure the salt had a major effect on its durability. If it is anything like the salt they use around here and I am sure it is it will make short work of any wax or sealant. Salt = BAD... That said you are adding additional oils to the finish so I suspect it will take a little longer for the elements to remove them.
I have Concorso and Mystery. they do shine and add depth. I'm not completely sold on carnaubas any longer. I have been having issues with smearing of the oils and dust attraction (not static related) Ill let you kow on the durability, I have 2 coats of Mystery on the car for 6 days now. It rained today, and i washed it on Monday. I'll comment on the durability after 30 days.
I have found that cleaner fluid gives 70-80% of the look even after the wax! apply it and look at the paint and you will know what I mean. I would definitely stick with cleaner fluid regular cleaner, there is also a mild and a more aggressive cleaner if case you really want to clean the paint.
