I wonder if this has happened to anyone else. This is the 2nd time I've seen a similar circumstance. Sunday morning I washed the car, pulled it into my garage - blew it dry and applied a coat of Swissvax Zuffenhausen. I let it sit for 20 minutes and wiped of the residue. As usual, the surface was slick-smooth, shiney and perfect. An hour later, I went back out into the garage to admire the car and I noticed there was a fly crawling around on the left rear quarterpanel. I tried to shoo it away and it couldnt fly away! It could only crawl. It crawled fast, but it couldnt fly. So I swept it off the car onto the ground, picked it up and brought it outside and tossed it into the grass. This the 2nd time I've seen such an occurance. The other time it was with Concorso. Flies and Bees tend to get attracted to the car after it is waxed and then they become almost, well, drunk - and totally impaired. Has anyone else seen this happen? Joe D
Maybe they can smell the bee's wax on the car? That could possibly be the reason they are attracted the car post wax, I have never had that happen personally. Mythbusters made bees drunk when they put them in a box with vodka in the bottom lol.
LOL:shrug: :yikes: @ drunken flies on your car. I applied another coat of Concorso yesterday morning in the garage but with the rain yesterday i haven't noticed any flies. Maybe I'll run downstairs to the parking garage @ work to check it out. I do notice flies are very attracted to any wax / sealant that has a fruity scent especially when using scented detail sprays. Zaino Z8 always gets attention.
The flies are so STUNNED by the sheer PERFECTION of your paint, they become DIZZY and are unable to leave!
Maybe. I was thinking that maybe what ever is outgassing is intoxicating to the insects. It happened an hour after I waxed. So if there are no drunken flies on your car now, maybe you need to re-apply when you get home.. Just kidding.
Haha.. your Porsche is now a fly trap. Hmm.... a new experiment to try out when i get home. Apply some Concorso to a sheet of aluminum foil and let sit out below the back porch and see what it attracts :yikes:
I've had that happen. I can't speak of swissvax waxes, but whenever I put some zaino Z6 on the car, I have tons of insects that crawls on the car.
When I was about to wash my car this morning there was a dead bee floating on the top of the suds. Apparently it was attracted to the soap and suffocated in the suds...
Actually, back in the day people did something similar to trap bees. You fill a bucket half way with soapy water and hang some meat (hot dogs work well) over the top. Apparently bees see the bubbles and think it's something to land on and they get stuck. I get a ton of mosquitos and flies right after I clay, using CG Luber. It's pretty annoying when I go to wax lol.
I noticed this with any carnuba wax or adams detail spray. the scent is so sweet, all sorts of insects are attracted to the paint. I think they actually taste/lick the surface, because after they do they die on the paint. its weird.
Funny..I always thought it was a beaver trap!! I have noticed mosquitoes that get attracted to the surface after DG 105 and end up dying. I think they're infatuated with the reflection and the vain little bastards are trying to screw themselves which they do to their peril.
last week when i was applying ocw for the first time, i had about 7 yellow jackets all over my car. it was crazy
Really? I've never heard of that. This was the first time it had ever happened to me so it kinda wierd...I'm about to stick my hand in wash bucket and I see something floating on the suds. I look closer and I realize it's a bee. I had just moved the bucket less than 1 minute earlier and there wasn't anything in there. And I hate bees.
