Hey guys, wanting to pick up a cleaner fluid but have some questions. These products like SV cleaner fluid, Zymol HD Cleanse and such...are they wax dependent? Meaning will they really mainly complement their own waxes or can they be universally used with most waxes? Say like SV cleaner fluid topped with Dodo juice or the like? Also, if i want to apply a sealant first, will it create bonding issues? I know there is a similar thread right below mine :giggle: about paint cleaning, but i needed a more specific answer....thanks guys!
Hehe, I don't know the answer to that for sure but I could definitely find out. Heath sent me some SV CF along with my Saphir so I could probably try SV CF followed by Riccardo paste wax.
I agree, I've found they are not wax dependant either. You can mix and match as you see fit but as far as putting the cleaner fluid prior to a sealant, I wouldn't recomend it. I've done it and it does seem to cause some bonding issues, the sealant didn't last as long as it normaly does. I used Swissvax Cleaner Fluid (just the regular one) then toped the vheicle off with DG 105 and it only lasted a month....that's just my experiance though.
i would say no.. i found after applying cleaner fluid as i did two days ago it really added some gloss..as much or more than any qd i have used and it is super super easy on/off..i added js 109 and bos and let the js cure for 30-40 mins then added the sv BOS.. oh and i finally got to try black wow.. and damn that stuff is awsome.. i just applied with a mf and damn a lil goes a long way.. BOS is easy to apply super super easy..i can wait to check her out today.. i am gonna throw one more coat on. only takes 30 mins. so far every time using cleaner fluid before js 109 then a swissvax topper works like a charm but js 109 works great to top with a nuba i don't know about duragloss. i will post pics later tonight oh and as far using another nuba with sv cleaner fluid... i tried CG Ezyme and used sv cleaner fluid before and it worked great!!!
hmmm...i always apply a sealant before my wax so maybe i should lay off getting the SV cleaner fluid...DG is very durable so a month out of it cannot be a good sign haha....thanks to all that replied!
This was an interesting thread. I still don't think I understand it all but I'll have to work on it...:shrug::shrug::shrug::shrug::shrug:
like most paint cleansers, CF and others have oils in them to help remove contaminations, along with usually kaolin(japanese clay) for removing contaminants, the oils screws up the bonding with sealants
So at this point would your do a wipe down...Like IPA or your favorite wipe down...So you can apply your sealent...
If you were using a sealant you would be better off to clay then IPA, I wouldn't bother with the paint cleaner, you would just be wasting product
im still confused on this theory...not saying its wrong... buttt.... 1. If yall are saying about the oils, and thats the only reason it gives you better gloss, then it will be gone after your 1st wash, or QD. 2. Im thinking a nuba would have bonding issues with these oils also... 3. Im thinking it would be ok to a IPA after the paint cleaner, and apply a sealant.... Am i wrong?
Well nubas have oils in them for gloss and ease of application. oil on oil, wouldn't make a difference. After the oils flash all that is left is a thin layer of nuba
so the cleaner fluid isn't doing any sort of leveling..even if it is just a tinyyyy amount.....its just putting oils on the paint?
I have been trying to figure out what SV cleaner fluid contains. Obviously, it works as both a solvent to clean the paint, as a glaze to add oils as well as Kaolin to fill imperfections. If thats the case then we really don't need it. An IPA wipedown and then glaze should be good enough. I have seen some folks on here mentioning that it is needed in order to use SV waxes for bonding......of course it will help bonding because its cleaning off the old wax due to the solvents in it. An IPA wipedown will do the same. God, I knew I shouldn't have bought some the other day!
Cleaner fluid of any brand is really to do a quick clean up if the vehicle is already polished and only needs an LSP after a wash. If you are doing paint correction then a Prep-sol or IPA wipe down is all that is needed. There is nothing wrong with using a cleaner fluid after an IPA wipe down before a LSP either.
Thank you ROCKET, I couldn't seem to understand what they were trying to say. You know what. I knew that...:thumb:
