Surface still rough after claying?

I've recently been experiencing some strange things after claying, during claying the claybar would be gliding over the surface but after I wipe the area dry, it would still feel somewhat gritty. Also my Riccardo clay bar seems to fall apart after 2-3 usage, is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

I am using Riccardo blue clay and ONR clay lube.

I think the reason might be I am using too strong of an ONR dilution for clay blue.

 

Maybe the surface is way too slippery and the claybar is barely removing any contaminants?

I haven't experienced this issue, but you know how slick ONR is ... so there's always that possibility.

 

check your mixture of ONR to Water ratio and then you might have to find a more aggressive clay to use to remove the contaminants on the surface.

 

ONR is a great clay lube, though sometimes I find myself switching because of this same problem. I like Automagic detail spray and i also like last touch 1:1. I used to really hate it, but when ONR gives too much slip, I reach for AM stuff. You might try a little more pressure too?

EDIT: Though with ONR and not getting everything off, its only with fine grade clays...aggressive stuff and ONR are a great match.
