Story goes back to last summer, when I had some body work done and the truck was covered with overspray. Brought it in to to Ken (911fanatic) for a diagnosis and it turns out fine, just need to clay it. Then came the excuses :applause2:..... Too much homework, exam schedule, have to see the girlfriend, work schedule, raining, its winter time.... have to wash dad's car, car in the shop.... blah blah blah.... Then came today. When I was driving my grandma to lunch, she said my car was too filthy :yikes: Ran out of excuses, no more reason to not wash it now. On top of that, afternoon classes were all cancelled because all my profs were sick :headbang: Have to do it now. I mean, how hard can it be? (Cue Top Gear: "Don't say that!") Proceed to wash truck.... gave the hood 3 passes with the claybar and then cleaned it off and prep for polish. Finally breaking out the Griots polisher. The random orbital gods must be angry cause the Griots hasn't seen any action since I bought it in September. Did two passes on the hood.... Wait a minute... it doesn't feel right. The claybar hasn't gotten all the overspray yet. Took another 3 passes from the claybar to clear off ALL the overspray from the hood. That took an hour and 4/5 bottle of clay lube. Normally a bottle is enough for TWO cars!! :gasp: So the hood in all took me 2 hours to do, and I realized.... my plan of doing half the car today has failed miserably. Retreat and I'll fight another day! Sorry guys no pictures. Pretty sure no one is interested on just the hood.
lollll no one can defy grandma and you see why I dont have a girlfriend? not cuz im too fat (i've been saying i'll work on it again for the past 4 years) but its cuz I wont be able to wash my car harhar (or pay for my detailing products)
What clay were you using? Sounds like you needed to step up the aggressiveness a little bit. Nothing like procrastinating on your own car!
Girls... you know what they say, you can't live with them, you can't live without them. Clay that I got from Ken, it says medium. While I was claying I was thinking that too, maybe I need a something a little more aggressive. Yeah detailing sort of took a back seat with life suddenly taking all my time. The truck went in the shop for two more unexpected repairs right after new years, power steering and rear brakes. So all my time went into making money to pay my repairs and tuition. Then I sort of just lost interest for awhile because the trucks been such a hassle, didn't feel like pampering it. Eons ago, I got some of the medium clay that you were selling under your name. Maybe its not aggressive enough, its gonna take awhile to clay the whole truck. Now the itch has come back and I want to give the truck a serious go. I have a day and a half that I'll be free on during the April school break, and I'm hoping to get this done. On a side note, the tree in front of my house decided it was apt time to dump a gazillion little flowers on my truck... And ONR smells like cotton candy...... I kept wanting to drink it when I was claying the truck
lolz one can never lose interest in one's own vehicle and in cars as men. i even lend my neighbor my mfs and spray wax cuz i couldnt watch the car get less of a treatment.
You are on here and RS a lot! I guess you can do it with three 24" monitors now. I don't even have one....
haha i'm on RS for shits n giggles at first i was just gonna lurk and check a few things out here n there, but i seriously hate the fail function there and some of the bastards over there. But mainly I just want to liven up some detailing love over there and at the same time answer questions so Ken doesnt have to do all the work and at the same time make sure that no one does anything bad to their car cuz it makes me cry every time. PEANUT BUTTER ON TRIM FFFFFFFFFF but yeah I mean I am a computer science major, I am connected all the time through my desktop/laptop/iphone and I enjoy forums and the wealth of information from people + sharing of information Besides if I was not as connected, I'd have trouble with business. My response time is no worse than Phil's I tell ya LOL
Same on RS, I don't post there, don't like a few select people. Yeah it pains me that some ppl ruin their cars, but hey, its their car what can I do? I don't bother teaching my friends cause it'll just turn into stupid arguments. And what peanut butter? lol!! I'm a computer science minor, maybe I should get you to help me, I'm doing horribly right now lol.
yeah let me know if ya need any help, I can't really teach you anything higher level stuff cuz im fairly rusty, havent done large programming projects in a while.
Probably the most basic of basic... I'm having problems with Discrete Math lvl 1 LOL!! I'm horrible at Philosophy, and discrete math is basically more complicated philosophy and I'm so facked. I have no clue how to calculate big Oh and little Oh, and no clue how to do mathematical induction.
discrete math isnt that bad. our probability introduction course = wtf, i go in after studying, come out with a 3/30 and i have no idea why. friggen ridiculous but yeah mathematical induction is really just proving base case and then using base case to prove n+1 or n-1 whichever way. always start with base case then work from there. big O is the upper bound small o is the lower bound not that hard, you simply do some multiplications of n for loops, take into account of function calls/etc, calling 2 recursion on itself will produce 2^n time complexity and you practically ignore lines of code as they're constant time.
3/30 eh? That sounds terrifying to be honest lol. Did you end up passing? I understand how to apply all that stuff into computer science, but the issue I'm having is with the actual math. My discrete math class wants us to find the big O or little o for some equation, write the friken formula and show steps. That's where I'm completely stumped. Computer science big O is easy cause you write whatever you think it is and explain why.... BTW... I applied some DG 105 on the hood with my random orbital, you think that's thick enough to hold for 3 weeks? It was beading nicely when I picked up my gf last night, but it wasn't beading anymore this morning (maybe partly because I parked under a tree).
still gotta do the final for it LOL but yeah never done it for equations personally, wouldnt know how to start actually and it should hold for 3 weeks, most average LSPs should really.
Oh... good luck on that. Yeah me neither, its one of those classes where the profs are useless and are completely unresponsive to questions or emails. not to mention horrible delivery. I hope it does, I did it the way Ken taught me how to wax, put a very very thin layer on, so thin that I could barely see anything on the hood. No sure if the same holds for synthetic sealants.
WOW...now that's something else! What a nice guy you are! Is that kinda like giving the ugly girl next door lipstick and makeup so that she looks more presentable?
ty, need to pass it to graduate in may ffffffff well lets not put it to the extreme, lets say plain girl next door LOL but yea his 300C is parked outside and gets battered by rain, I offered to help him wash but he went and did it himself so I went and lent him the stuff. I also ordered 1gallon of prima hydro and will prob part out a bit for him to try out and see if he likes it or not (i lent him 1z spray wax). Also gotta part out some for my friend who is also lazy so spray wax be the solution. i'm seeing if my other neighbor will let me detail his old porsche as he helped us out with a few things.
You can always negotiate. Friend of mine was just a bit from passing his last course. Talked with the prof and he gave him a C- so he can pass the course and grad.
