I bought the Shark steamer from Lowes this weekend for a hundred dollars. Used it to clean my bathroom, kitchen and tile floors in the house. Overall I am very impressed with it and the job it did cleaning, especially my grout.

    Pro's
    - Long power cord
    - Nice assortment of different attachments
    - Made enough steam to clean everything in my house w/o refilling
    - Steam was consistant w/ decent pressure
    - Priced nicely for a weekend detailer

    Con's
    - Wish it came w/ more pads for mopping
    - Only one nylon and brass brush came with it (can order more from the shark website)
    - Warm up time takes about ten minutes (distilled water was used)

I would recommend this to all weekend warriors but, for the professionals that do this for a living might want something more. I used this steamer to clean my white leather gym shoes and not only did it get the leather clean again but, made it very soft. Can not wait to try this on my truck and its leather seats.

    Sounds like a reasonabl esteamer.

Question though, isn't leather bad on leather seats? Something to do with the stiching? :shead: I could be wrong here but just what I read...I would assume that steaming leather seats would be fine as well, but not sure exactly why it would be bad to steam leather seats?

Hope you don't mind the question :paranoia:

On Autopia there is a thread about it and I have read of others doing it and having good results. I heard the steam will open the pores so that the leather conditioner will absorb better into the leather. My truck is fairly new (07) so I won't be to agressive with the steam, just enough to soften them some and then condition.

I also found that this steamer is good at removing spots from carpets. Just steam then blot with a towel and the stain is gone. Thanks to my girlfriends puppy pissing on my carpet, to help make this test possible.

See, I agree with your logic Strokin04. I mean leather is skin so you heat it up and yes the pores should open up...I mean I do the same with the 1000W lights to heat up the leather and then I massage in the leather conditioner so I would assume that using steam to clean the leather seats would be fine...but I have read the oposite

Well just that the steam can damage the stiching on the leather  I mean if you go too aggresive then yes I can see it but a bit of steam on the leather and then give it a wipe down should do the trick...but then again I've never used a steamer my self so I honestly don't know
