Squareup credit card payments

Since I have an iPhone I'm thinking about signing up here for the swiper device for it (free). Processing CC's for detailing could be a huge plus for a nominal fee (2.75% +15c per transaction).

I know not everyone has cash every time, so I think it might be worth having.

This works for droid phones as well

a lot of people seem to be on the squareup thing. I wish i could use it but they don't support windows mobile devices which sucks.

I have seen this squareup stuff loooooooooooong ago when it was being developed and what not and then recently it popped up again on numerous forums and people are starting to think about using it.

Hope they support other phones soon besides iphone and droids.

 

That would be wicked. I saw it the other day on another site but I don't believe it'll work with my BB.

i know! no BB love, hopefully they'll make it for the bb soon. for now ill use my itouch within range of my wifi

 

can you run this app off of the iTouch Ipod?

they should have released it for more then just the two types of phones. A lot of folks don't have androids. In time i hope they will.

Maybe all of us outcast folks should start a petition or something for them to make it work for Windows Mobile & BB phones as well.

 

yep it does work on the itouch, i just tried it out. very clean app. i think theyre expanding to other devices as well, so maybe it will be on BB's soon

 

might have to invest in a iTouch then so i don't need to change my phone service provider seeing as how i just signed a new 2 year contract LOL.

Not 110% familiar with the iTouch but do you need to some how connect to the net or you just click the application icon and away you go?

 

yep you would need access to a wireless network (itouch and iphone both have integrated wifi capabilities) and from there you just set up the account. once you get a confirmation email you sign up you bank account and address and they send you the card swipe device free

 

ahh . . . . . so then it might be pointless. There isn't always a Wi-Fi network around to connect to. I'm guessing sometimes there is only the locked networks available. In that case you would be screwed but i guess can always key in the card later.

I mean you could use paypal for now as that works to accept cc payments.

 

That's pretty slick..... Would be nice if there was an app that worked with Windows Mobile...

 

MS and RIMM (Blackberry) need to make it easier to develop apps for their platforms. This is where Apple and Android/Google stand out.

granted i know this thread is old . . . . . so do you need to be connected to the net via wi-fi to process those credit card transactions?

I mean if you are in a area doing a mobile job in which has no wi-fi access can you still process the credit card transaction through squareup or how does that all work?

 

gives another reason to get an I-phone...hmmmm...my brother got I-phone 4 and first impressions - I like that it's heavier then I-phone 3...hmmmm...

 

From what I can tell, you basically need some form of data connection, either via wi-fi or through your mobile broadband network.

 

FWIW I still haven't gotten my square card reader.

 

i e-mailed support and i got a response within a few hours. They said they are now shipping out readers. I have done enough searching to find that there are some people who indeed have received their card readers. I am excited for this to finally launch full force.

I do need to go out and purchase a ipad or ipod in order to download the application to sign up for a account which will then get me a card reader. I wish i could sign up first then get the ipod or ipad when the card reader arrived.

This could be the next best thing . . . . . i think they just tested the water to early on before everything was together and got such a overwhelming response that they didn't know how to handle it. Seems like things are headed in the correct direction so hopefully everyone starts to receive their reader.

Keep us updated as i need to figure out how to sign up for a account.
