Anyone used both Sonax Full-effect wheel cleaner and IronX for removing iron deposits?
I've used Sonax Full-effect until now and I'm happy with it, but on really neglected wheels it struggles to remove baked on brake dust. It took 3 hits on the backs of my winter wheels to get them clean.
I was wondering it IronX was better/faster at this...

guys in the US dont have much experience as in Europe with IronX , its pretty "fresh" here , so im not sure you can get some feedback on that here.

    Thanks!
The thing is that in Europe, Sonax FE isn't very popular.

no but i will soon. got sample of sonax from Ank yesterday but ironx is at the shop so have to wait a little

ill wonder more on ironxsoap since its more of a soap then ironx by itself so would be interesting to compare those

I have used both products, and find both good at removing iron filaments. Sonax is the better product for rims as it clings better and foams up a bit when agitated.
IME if two hits of Sonax with adequate dwell time do not remove the issue, it is time to switch to a different product. If I get to that point in a detail, I first check-down to AG CWC, then Megs Wheel Bright. That will most always take care of the issue.

i think if you put ironx soap in spray bottle you can use it as wheel cleaner just like sonax and ironx soap seems to be cheaper

Not really, the price of IronX has also been lowered with the launch of the new formula (better smell and clinging).
But even so, I can get Sonax FE for about half the price of IronX so I'll stick to that for now.

Solid advice here ... I would try AG CWC and then Meg's WB.

Where do you get Autoglym Citrus Wash Clear? I don't see it at Autogeek.net or Detailed Image. Is the Chemical Guys Citrus Wash Clear the same thing?

Can this stuff really be any good; I see Walmart sells Autoglym? Does Autoglym have different levels of product, like Meguiars..maybe that's why I see Walmart selling their product, but I've never seen the Citrus stuff.

The little blue links on DB are not accurate, when I said AG CWC, I was talking about Auto Glym Custom Wheel Cleaner. They do not make a citrus wash clear. :thumb:

Yeah, as stated above, the blue link thingies are automatic but AG CWC = AutoGlym Custom Wheel Cleaner.

The only other similar product to the CG Citrus Wash products would be the Showroom FX Citrus Pre-Cleaner.

And by the way - DetailersDomain sells CustomWheelCleaner.

    5L refill
    500mL

As for Walmart selling Autoglym - I would place them in on the higher end of the middle as far as the brands go. I heard they regret doing the Walmart distribution deal and will be pulling out of that channel. That is why you will see WM placing these products on sale.

Is this stuff ok to use on OEM painted/clear-coated wheels too?

you can't spray Sonax all over the car though. not like IronX

Yes, Sonax is safe on painted wheels. Make sure it does not dry on to the wheel, and it never hurts to test a small section of the wheel first.

I have used Sonax FE for a while, and IMO, it is the best wheel cleaner that I have ever used. I have used P21S gel for a long time, and that used ot be my favorite until I tried Sonax. The one thing that you need to be careful with while using Sonax, is that it will cause rust on the disks. If you get any on the disks, be sure to try to rinse it ASAP.

I just picked up some IronX from Phil, so I will let you know what I think.
