We got the chance to get our hands on a tub of the premium, hand-crafted, limited edition Phoenix wax by Son1c Wax.

Son1c Wax was founded by Drew Elias, a detailer just like us, who became engrossed in premium waxes. Enough that he decided to start making his own. Drew went from mixing waxes in a DIY kit to sourcing his own materials and hand-crafting premium wax pots for people across the world. Phoenix is digitally serialized XXX/843, with our pot being #112. (Know what I mean peaches and cream... Anyone? No? Ok let's get back to the review.)
    Size: 150ml
    Price: $85.00
    Price/ml: $0.57
    Usage Rate: 50+ Vehicle applications
Usage Price (at a 3ml per vehicle evaluation): $1.71

    Ease of application

Very smooth. A little product easy spreads very thin for optimal coverage. Does not feel grabby, the applicator effortlessly glides over the surface.

    Ease of removal

When removed after applied to one panel:
    Extremely easy, which was expected.
When removed after applied to a whole car:
Unbelievably easy. When they say effortless removal, they mean EFFORTLESS. Hardly any pressure and the wax wiped cleanly away. This is great as you want to put at little pressure on paint as possible to prevent damage and this wax delivered. The price of this wax is worth the ease of removal alone, I was absolutely blown away by this.

    Scent

Delicious, very reminiscent of Cherry Blow Pops that makes it a pleasure to use.

    Hydrophobic capabilities

    Beading
Very tight, round beads. Similar to coating with the contact angle of the beads. Very impressive for a wax.

    Sheeting
Again this wax hold it's own against the hydrophobic tendencies of coatings. Water sheets off effortlessly, even on flat surfaces. This amazing hydrophobic capability will not only allow you to pool rinse you vehicle to almost completely dry, but also will keep your vehicle cleaner much longer as dirt and contamination will not stick to the surface as easily.

    Finished look

There is a very warm “glow” that you get from this wax. There is a significant difference in the look received from a low end wax and a premium wax and this look is worth every penny. This product is aptly named Phoenix, as it will light up any paint flake like a fire. I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

    Durability

Stated to have a durability of 3 months. However this, as with all waxes/sealants, will differ depending on what conditions your vehicle faces.

    Pros

    Smells fantastic
    Very smooth application
    EFFORTLESS removal (seriously it's amazing)
Deep, wet look that gives great reflections

    Cons

There is nothing I found wrong with this wax. Yes it may be a bit pricey compared to other waxes, but the price is absolutely worth it.

    Conclusion

To be honest, we were a bit skeptical about this wax when we received it. Could it really be that much better than the sub-$50 waxes in our line-up? Will it really justify its price? After using it, absolutely YES! The ease of use, the delicious scent the and amazing hydrophobic capabilities take this wax to the next level. Not to mention it is a hand-crafted, limited edition wax. This is a wax for special occasions or for clients who want something extra special. This wax is the three-piece suit with a silk pocket square, you wouldn't always get this dressed up, but when you do it's something special.
