    kei169 Wax on..Wax off

    Hi every,

I did a detail on my friend's car tonite. everything went fine, i went from a two bucket washing, clay, polish, and wax.
Just before waxing, i saw some residue left over. I tried to wipe it off, I got no luck at all. So i decided to buff it off with a PO85RD with White pad, however, I couldn't take it off as well. Finally, i tried to apply some inspection water from Menzerna, Still no luch with that.

    What is this thing?
    How can i remove this?
    How can I prevent this?

I have attached some pics under

    Thanks in advance!!!

Sort of looks like possible clearcoat burn.

Can you feel it as you run your finger over the surface? If the surface is smooth, it might be underneath the clear, it's hard to say. Otherwise, if it's a surface issue, you're looking at either cc failure due to chemical or mechanical means I would guess. hope that helps..

Maybe a gummed up polish? I had some REAL trouble with my 1z polish gumming up, probably due to me not prepping the surface after I used a compound. Try some Isopropyl to remove. If not, it's probably cc failure as everyone said.

I had some residue that wouldn't come off, and Goo Gone took care of it.

But the residue I had didn't look like that. Hopefully it's not cc failure.

It's hard to say but I'm thinking CC failure/burn.

as i run my finger through the surface, i couldn't feel of anything,
It is as smooth as nothing on the top.
however, i just couldn't take it out,
    Have any idea?

This whole line came from the top of the hood all the way to the bottom of the hood, I initally guess whether it is the tape residue........

try the goo gone if you think it's tape/polish residue.

I am afraid of CC failure, how do i know whether it is or not?

What I was thinking about cc failure, is I would think it would be a halo, instead of a big line going straight down the hood.

But I am just a novice, so I could very well be wrong. I've never burned through the clear coat before.

Were you using a rotary polisher?

Even if you were, it doesn't look, to me, like it could have been burned with the machine. The shape of the imperfection is pretty uneven - I'd expect something with a more clearly-defined shape had it been burned.

haha... I meant goof off. dammit. sorry man. you're only out like a buck though. goof off is more of a solvent, and isn't oily like goo gone.

I think in this case Goo-Gone and Goof Off would have taken care of the problem. If it was tape residue...I think the paint is ecthed under the CC and you didn't notice it until you thought you did it. I did have the same thing happen to me last summer. I never saw a thing until I had my wheel right on top of it and then I freaked out. What have I done. Well, I didn't do anything and I couldn't do anything to fix it either. It wasn't my fault and I think this isn't your fault either...
