Hey guys, I posted this on 6speedonline as well, but I figured you guys would have more experts over here :worship2: I consider myself to be pretty decent at keeping my cars clean and looking good. I've ordered a lot of stuff from Phil and other detailering companies, but I've never ventured outside of the world of Meguiar's polish and wax (I've used other waxes such as Poorboy's and Zymol and haven't been impressed). I think I'm more of a Meguiar's person b/c I took their class at their HQ in Irvine and frankly, I don't know any better or what else to use. My regime is after the wash and clay has been done, to use Meguiar's Speed Glaze to polish the car using the Meguiar's version of a Porter Cable and their W8006 Soft Buff Foam Polishing Pad (many pads). After the polish, I put on 2 coats of Meguiar's NXT 2.0 tech wax again using the d/a machine with a Meguiar's W9006 Soft Buff Foam Finishing Pad. After a day or so, or after the first wash after this treatment, I've recently began to use Optimum Spray Wax on the car as a "topping" of sorts. My question is, what other products, specifically pads, polishes and waxes would you recommend for me to use that are just as easy to use and apply as the Meguiar's products and leave better gloss, shine and protection? Here are some pics of my cars fresh after a detail: Thanks!
I am a fan of Menzerna compounds, not that I don't like Megs stuff but the Menerna has never did me wrong. The "Complete" kit from DD is what I have started with and just been back filling as needed. I haven't had to use a glaze yet :crossfingers: but there will come a day when I will... I do like foam pads the Uber pads from DD are what I primarily use. I have used Lake County pads and they are just as nice but use a different color code system which can be a bit confusing when two guys are detailing a car using different color pads... Pretty much some Uber Green, Blue, and few Black is all you really need. Also on the White Bimmer I would use a sealant instead of a wax, it will help brighten the car over a wax. I do like the NXT wax but it really doesn't last. I would look into a 'nuba wax going forward. There are countless wax in all sorts of price range. I have the P21S wax and I like it but I am going to look into Lusso on my next chemical order from DD. Can't quite bring myself to pay hundreds of dollars on wax yet
m5 is one of my favs! Nice... Menzerna, Uber Pads, Meguiars 105 - 205 do some research on this forum, you will find plenty of help.

Applying what you learn from it, however, will. That's where your commitment comes in - you need to make a commitment to yourself right now that you will take action on what you learn. If you learn something from these articles, please pass it along and "pay it forward".
a nice bulletproof wax that also looks great is collinite 845. It doesnt smell really nice, but it it a breeze to apply. Best beading of any other wax i have ever used.
Never used any meg's polishes besides 105. Menzerna is my primary go-to. I use a large selection of pads. Uber yellow, green, and blue. LC orange and white. 3m uk blue waffle finishing, 3m us black waffle finishing. buff n shine yellow and wool 3" pads.
Megs NXT is more for beginner, many started with it...One thing that I don't like about it, is that it fills swirls, so you think you did a good job getting rid of them, but they come back after a couple of washes, so you have to wax again...That's why I upgraded to premium waxes/sealants in a fist place. I'd highly recommend you try out Menzerna Power Lock with nice carnauba wax like Swissvax Concorso...Judging by the cars you are driving you should be able to afford it...afterall, BWM and MB not a taurus...
I too am a big fan of Menzerna polishes. For light scratches/swirls I'd think you'd be able to get great results by just using the PO203S as your medium cut compound and finish it of with the PO106FA or PO85RD. As for meguiar's line of products, I've only seen the excellent results people have gotten by just using the Megs 105/205 combo.
as you can see from the previous posts you will get 100 different answers to the same question. my take is this. If you're happy with your products, techniques and results then dont change anything. If your not happy with your results then try changing your techinique (cheapest) if that doesnt work then try products. This alone will save you a ton of money if all your after is results. Here people like trying new products to see how it effects their results, but their technique is down pat. As far as waxes there are no wrong answers, as goes with polishes some work better than others welcome to DB and enjoy your stay! on edit: for the m5 id recommend after polishing it using duragloss #501 ( marine RV polish) this will deep clean your white paint and leave it really crisp, after 501 id put on a sealant like duragloss #105 or #111 or even zaino z2pro. these sealants tend to have a hard glass look that make white look very glossy and dripping wet. for the benz, decide if you want a wax or a sealant. if you want a sealant everyone loves blackfire wet diamond all finish paint protection or menzerna powerlock (since they look identical). for a wax i'd reccomend chemical guys 50/50. or you could combine them both as most people do btw optimum car wax is no joke, its a decent stand alone wax, don't let the fact that its in spray form tell you otherwise! I dont know which zymol you tried, but id be interested in finding out which one and why you didnt like it
awesome, thanks for all the advice, guys! with regards to the Swissvax, I've seen pics of them applying it. do you really apply it by hand? I assume "massage" it in and wipe off?
