Ok so the metabo overheated for the first time while I was working on the maxima during the week. I jumped back to the Makita. Does anyone experience like a metal burning smell when using the metabo? or is it just me? I've emailed metabo canada but haven't received a response about the metal smell issue. Anyways if anyone has any thoughts on this great. Cheers, Nick
My Metabo overheats from time to time but I don't recall a burning smell :shead: :shead: Next time it overheats, you should let the Metabo run for a few minutes...put it on say about speed 3 and let it run, this should cool it down, once it's cool it's good to be used a again. That's what I've been doing with my Metabo, so far so good
If I'm not mistaken the Metabo that's over heating is this one: Well I'm assuming Nikku has the same one but that's the one that has over heated for me. Would love to hear your feed back on the overheating of the Metabo's.
Alright everybody, Metabo group buy from Jfturgeon. I'm sure he can get us a great discount. opcorn: I almost pulled a trigger on a Makita this week, but still not sure if I should get it or the Metabo, but I keep hearing about this overheating issue.
I want a work horse of a polisher, that's why I bought the Dynabrade. I'm glad I listened to Asphalt Rocket and the others who recommended it!
I sure do...after hunting around and another DB member sharing this link with me, I found this to be my best deal: Dynabrade Now I couldn't find the link for the exact one that I have. I would call them and see if they have it in stock. If I recall as well, Dynabrade had just updated the polisher and I did get the new one for the same low price.
Could you be using an extension cord with an incorrect gauge requirement? That is how I melted the backing plate off my PC...
Carlos has it right. That's the Metabo that heated up on me. Got it back from the service center. They said it's in perfect condition and couldn't explain the issue. They said maybe polish got into but I highly doubt that as they said there weren't much trace of it. In any case just sold my makita and am picking up the order for the second Metabo after a few family things tomorrow. Hope someone shines a light on the metabo I'm not particularly happy with having to wait for the machine to be serviced. Using it for work makes sense for immediately replacement well if you buy at least 2 btw i personally like the metabo over the makita due to the balance of the machine. The way I personally hold it is less tiring than holding the makita. If only makita had the same handle style as the metabo then we'd be cooking.
