Skylink WS-100 (wireless electrical remote)

I bought this on Amazon recently. It's a wireless electrical remote control, which means you can plug any electric item (within reason) and remotely switch it on and off.

I didn't know what to expect since it was only $18, but have to say I've been very pleased with it. Does exactly what it says. This one has a range of 100 feet, the other model has an external antenna and has a range of 500 feet.

I wired it (for now) to my attic lights, that way the lights are on with a click of a button without having to reach for the switch upstairs.

Thought I'd pass it along as I bet this could come in quite handy in a variety of applications. Here is a link to the two models:

I think the best application for it is lighting, or maybe fans that don't have remotes

 

I'd use it to activate the secret door to my secret chambers

 

Think I will hook up my sprinkler clock the next time the in laws come over!

 

Could use it with the garage wall vac. it would be like have the on/off switch at the end of the hose.

 

Is it UL listed. I am always converned with fire.
