Chemical Cleaning and Decontaination Aquartz Iron Cut is a one-step, highly effective car paint decontamination, beyond what can be removed by washing or claying, with the cleaning power of an acid with a (safe) pH of 7.0, by using a neutralised acid salt Neutralization is the reaction between an acid and a base (alkaline) producing a salt and neutralized base; common examples include acetic acid and sulphuric acid (hence the red colour, which is a chemical reaction (oxidation) with the metal particles) contains neutralised acid salt that effectively dissolve the sintered brake dust particles by forming a water soluble complex that can be rinsed away. If you are familiar with detail clay, you know it is capable of removing above surface contaminants that have bonded to the paint surface. This product is designed to remove what lies below the paint surface.
The concept is similar to Sonax, but for paint decontamination? Is it going to be available in the States?
I'm sure if there is a demand for it they will make it available. As a concept this one-step is a break-through compared to a 3-step decontamination / netrelization products that are currently avilable. Sonax likewise a 'safe' acid wheel cleaner Optimum Spray on Polish and Compounds GTechnique Silane coatings Exciting new 2010 technology with lots more to come I'm sure
Thank you for starting this thread. I've been wondering lately if there was a one step product for decontaminating paint, so now I know. How did you find out about this company? I've tried searching for information on it, but haven't had any luck.
As you probably know I write articles / how-to's for various car care mfg / vendors and get to hear about new products
Thanks, this is good info. Hopefully someone will carry it. I've been having a real tough time finding a decontamination system in Canada. No one sells it. Closest is going to a ford dealer and they said they do not sell it to the public.
its interesting ... so do we still need to clay the car after this iron one step cleaning? thks for sharing
How can this be a break through product, I did a review a couple of months ago on Mark-Vs fallout remover which is also a one step system and has been out for years.
yes but that would be oxalic acid based which has drawbacks that include Softens the clear coat (not such a bad thing as I do that with another product already) bleaches uncoated metals and etches glass stings like a bitch and can negatively affect plastic moldings and such I have been in touch with aquartz and am having a litre of iron cut sent over to me to test as I will compare that to the FK1 system as pre polishing preparation steps are what I think make alot of difference to the final results and make the process of machine polishing alot easier. no gumming polishes, pads glide better, polishing is more effective (whether abrasively correcting) or deep cleaning and glazing paintwork.
It's a breakthrough product in that it uses a SAFE acid system, perhaps that's the reason your Mark-V product is not getting the recognition you had hoped for. As a Chemical Engineer I try to evaluate products from a scientific standpoint as opposed to an emotive ( although I suspect this is often my response to the gloss from Carnauba waxes ) or brand loyalty response Dream Machine - you'll love this product, its night and day compared to Valuguard (of which I've always been an advocate of)
