Hi. I'm currently using rupes polisher with microfiber pads. some says I have to put some pressure on polisher machine, and some says just use weight of polisher? in my theory, I have put some extra weight , while I'm using compound. am I correct??? plz correct If somethings wrong. also I guess for waxing or sealant just use correct pads with weight of the polisher right? thanks.
That article is good, but IMO, it only applies to the Griots/PC. I don't put pressure on my Rupes. The weight of the machine should be sufficient. You do need to understand that the Rupes accomplishes correction because of its stroke size. IMO, you need to control how fast/slow you make passes in order to obtain the level of cut you need. The stroke size does the work for you. Search Kevin Brown's articles here or at his site (www.buffdaddy.com) if you have a minute.
Gdal is right, sometimes going slower is and playing with the speed can yield better results. Play with the speeds before pressure.
Watch YouTube videos of professionals polishing with a Rupes. You will get a better idea of how fast you need to move the machine. One of the biggest mistakes I see people do is moving the Rupes like it is a rotary.
