Thanks BTW pics of the new jeep to come after I clean it up since it was raining when i picked it up wed night and hasnt stopped yet....
Good question as a co-worker wants me to detail his new Jeep. I took a quick look at the top and my first reaction was just treat it like the paint...but I'm not sure on the material so I too am looking forward to some feed back here opcorn:
Nica i would say treat it like paint but it has a texture to it...and after working on tons of boats in my lifetime i have found that Texture=Nightmare for removal...LOL.....
I've have a 1999 Jeep Wrangler with 40,500 miles in mint condition with a black hard top. All these years what ever I have tried is a bust. It either runs or stains. As much as I would like to be the hero in this case. I have nothing. Believe it or not the best thing to do is wash it and leave it. I wish I had an answer for you but sometimes the best thing to do is nothing. The top will look new for a long time without doing anything anyway. Good luck guys. Keep me in the loop if you find anything. The only thing I could do if it gets to ratty is paint it.
You just gave me an idea. OPT Optimium Opti-Seal...The only thing is it would make the top shiny and I always liked mine flat the way it came...Just a thought...
Oooh good idea there Buddy, so how about you give it a shot and let us know how it works out
Ya, I can do that. Give me some time. I have to order it. I've been wanting to try it anyway...:thumb:
i have wanted to order that anyway so i think i am gonna order it and try it out.....My top is fairly shiny so maybe it will look ok......
I've only ever worked on one. I looked up the job and saw that I used 303 but got streaks. I went over it with ONR and it looked great. I don't know how long it lasted, if the streaks came back or what. It looked great at the time though.
I rec'd my Opti-Seal and went right to work on my hard top. I really thought I had the answer this time But no. It was just another bust. I applied it, It looked really good at first and then in soaked in and I couldn't even tell where I applied it and thats the way the stories goes...
Thanks for trying Buddy, I'll see how my attempts go I get the vehicle some time this week :computer:
