Hi guys, some jealous muppet scratched my car three quarters of the length down one side, its pretty deep and im wondering what are my options to make good the damage? How do you know when its too deep to fix? Would it be possible to touch it up with paint and clear then sand down and polish out the marks? If so whats the best method of keeping the sanding marks to a localised area?

Heres a pic of the scratch

Did they use a friggin' chisel or is that just the picture? How deep is that scratch?

Something that big, long and deep will need a sand and respray. You could try filling it with touch up paint and buffing it down but it won't look 100%

I agree. And i'll add 'wet sand' before you buff. It will look alot better, but not perfect.

Thanks for the speedy replies chaps:thumb: Would it be best to touch up with paint and clearcoat or just paint? Then is it just a case of sanding the touch up back to the level of the paint? Then polish out any sanding marks?

Touch up has clear in it. add a bit more than you need, sand till level and buff as you normally would, MenzPG or some other compund and finish it off
