Ok the contractor that is rebuilding the house across the street from me (it had a terrible house fire this past summer) had seen me detailing cars and asked if I detailed on the side. I told him I did and he said "Wish I had known that". Well a few days went by and he stopped by and asked if I could do his black Suburban. I said no problem and we set a date. Well I found out what he meant by the comment before because it didn't look that great and he said he had a guy "detail" it and when he got it back he was mad as hell about the job. There were light swirls everywhere that looked to be from poor washing technique. Well he didn't want paint correction but wanted it to look as good as it could. He pointed to my Jeep and said I want it to look like that.

I told him for the price I quoted him he would get CGs Jetseal or a Wax. But my Jeep had both and for an increase in the price he could get both. He quickly agreed and so he was getting Jetseal and Rubbish Boys Juiced Edition. Ok heres what I did:

Tires/Wheels: The wheels got Megs Wheel Brite and OrngeZ's wheel sticks and a black shmitt. This is an ustopable combo regardless of how nasty the wheels are and the shine is just brillant. The tires got Majestic Solutions Super Green Stuff and the wells got CGs Grime Reaper. The tires were dressed with Majestic Solutions Super Dress All first as a base coat and followed up with CGs VRP, and the wells got CGs Bare Bones.

Chrome: The tail pipes got Megs Wheel Brite first and then all the chrome: bumpers, running boards, and tail pipes all got Klasse AIO with a 3" white pad. It was then buffed off with a Sams Club MF (Thanks Tonya).

Trim: The black plastic pieces on the bumpers and the nerf bars got Majestic Solutions Quick Details.

Engine: Got the old faithful, rinse, spray with MS SGS, agitate, rinse, dry with leaf blower, dress with MS QDs.

Wash: Washed with the foam cannon and a strong solution of CGs CWG and my Griots mop stick. Bugs got MS Bug Off and a Pinnacle Safe Scrub.

Clay: Clayed with Pinnacle Poly Clay and DP 4n1 clay lube via a handheld pressurized sprayer like you get at Lowes. I like this method because it puts plenty of lube on the paint and sure beats the traditional sprayer. First time using the Pinnacle Poly Clay and I liked it. Its not as good as Riccardo but I like it. Even though it is a newer truck there were a ton of contaminants on the paint.

Glass: Glass inside and out got CGs Glass Cleaner applied with a CGs El Gordo MF and dried off with a Walmart WW. The windshield was then treated with a layer of DG AW and buffed off with a Cobra WW.

Interior: The interior was pretty dirty but after a very good vacuum it was a lot better. I used my Megs slidelock brush to clean all the crevices and vents before the vac. I cleaned all the vinyl and plastic with CGs Total Interior Cleaner and a Cobra MF. I then dressed all the interior with CGs Silk Shine applied with a TW MF mitt. I really seem to get good even coverage with this mitt when applying interior protectants. On the parts of the interior that are the faux brushed aluminum look I used DP Plex-All. I used the Plex-All on the radio bezel and guage cluster. The carpeted mats were treated for spots with CGs Lightning Fast Stain Extractor.

Door Jambs: Door jambs got CGs ONE. I just started using the ONE for this and really love it. I use it just like I do on paint, spray, wipe in one direction to lift the dirt, then come back and buff to a brilliant shine. I also like being able to say not only did I clean the jambs I waxed them too! CGs ONE does an incredible job on door jambs regardless of how dirty they are. Well I haven't come across any dirty enough to give it a problem.

Paint: Well I wanted to do as much for the paint short of full correction so I went with a combo Al-53 told me about. I used 2 parts DG 501 to 1 part Menzerna 106ff. This combo is more watery than the products alone but the combo cleans like no other and does some light correction too! This was my second time using it and it has performed well both times. I applied it with a green 5" CCS pad that I got from MotorCity. He told me these pads were the bomb and I would love them and he was right. Not as much cut as an orange pad but more aggressive than a white. That pad and polish combo with the Flex on speed 5 and 5.5 got probably 75% of the light swirling out. It also created a great shine by cleaning the paint so well and the the 106ff burnishing the paint as I polished.

Protection: As always I reached for my fav CGs Jetseal. I applied it by hand with my polishing pal and a 4" blue CCS pad. And let me tell you there is a lot of acreage on a Suburban! I buffed it off with a CGs Black and Yellow MF. Well the shine was nothing short of incredible after the Jetseal but he wanted it to look like the Jeep and had bought the wax upsell so ....

LSP: When he said he wanted it to look like the Jeep I went to the fridge in the garage and pulled out the Dodo Rubbish Boys Juiced Edition and said this is what you need. This stuff goes on and off so incredibly easy that I didn't mind there was so much acreage on the Suburban. I took a hair dryer and pre-heated the 3" red pad (Thanks for that tip Nica :thumb:, but wife is mad at you because I took one of her hair dryers) and applied the Rubbish Boys Juiced Edition. Again if you have not tried this wax you should as it gives so much clarity to the paint and over a sealant the look is well :yikes:! I buffed the Rubbish Boys off with a CGs Green Edgeless MF.

The guy came to pick it up and seemed really really pleased. He said his wife, who dropped him off was really jealous. I asked him how he liked it and he said well I have another car I want you to detail but its getting the carpet redone in it right now but when I get it back its coming to you. I said "cool what is it". "Oh just a 1966 Cobra" he said :yikes:! I think its a kit car but still I can't wait to just see it! Well here are the pics:

Looks great JL. The tires/wheels look really great. I might have to mix up a batch of that DG501/106ff combo with that extremely generous sample of 501 (thanks man)

    Al-53 Welcome to Detailing

LOOKS nice Wolfie...lots of metal to polish there....as usual the rest is top shelf work....

the 501 and 106 cpmbo works well for what it is...it gets the light to medium stuff out and leaves a nice finish....now try some 501 and IP in a mix...same ratio..that may get some of the heavier stuff out...

Sneek bro you really should try some of the MS SGS it is a staple in my arsenal and I use it on EVERY detail.

pirex my man always love props from you! Yeah it was nice to have my previous work speak for me!

Thanks Gary and I agree with you on some nice greenery around here will be nice!

Thanks bro its almost as nice as getting compliments on here from people whose work I admire so much!

Dust I agree about that good ol' GMC OP! And yes I do love the RB JE and can't wait to see what you can do with it bro!

Thanks man and you were so right about the green pads, as you are right about all the products you talk me into! Heck I can't wait to see the Cobra much less detail it!

supercharged I don't like the Rubbish Boys, I LOVE IT! Ben made an awesome wax in the original edition and Dodo took an awesome wax and added the Dodo twist to it to make a superb Juiced Edition. To be honest I haven't used a wax that is close to it other than Swissvax Saphir looks a lot like Original Edition. I have yet to find one that has the clarity of the Juiced Edition.

Go ahead and try it Cooter you won't be disappointed. Oh man I just realized that I didn't put in the process that I wiped the Suburban down before the owner got here with the Optimum Instant Detailer you sent me. Many many thanks for that and it looked awesome on the black.

Ah the mad scientist chimes in! :thumb: Thanks again Al for the tip, man I seem to be saying that a lot lately!!! I think I'll have to try the 501/IP mixture next. Thanks for all your help, you have really been instrumental in helping me achieve the results!

Thanks Sparkmeister! I try to include everything because I have learned so much from so many folks on here that I want to share so maybe someone else can reap the benefits as well. Thats what so great about the forum is all the help you can get!

I can't wait to see you use it too! I really look forward to seeing the results you get!

A lot of GM acreage my friend, but at least there were a lot of flat panels. Heck the next day I had a GMC 2500 HD Super Crew long bed with a camper shell!

    Thanks zoomzoom!

DAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN! Another fine fine fine detail by the Wolfmeister General. Like I always say, best wheels and tires in the COUNTRY! Even though the Suburban didn't look BAD in the befores, the afters just speak VOLUMES!!! Very nice work mate, that black is looking like it should again. Nothing wrong with a good one-step polish, that's what all of my details seem to be. LOVE IT MATE LOVE IT!!!

Thanks so much Piet! I know what you expect from me now on the tires and wheels so I try! You and me both on the one step polish customers, I'm still in search of the small faction of the population around here that wants full correction.

Thanks bro and yeah a lot of good looking rubbish right there!
