Look what I found in the grocery store cleaning aisle today: The Rubbermaid Flexi-duster. Sorry gang, it's not available on Rubbermaid.com for some reason. :sorry: But I saw this in the cleaning aisle at my Lowe's Foods, and picked one up. It was a bit pricey at $14.95, but it's 18" or so long, plus a 6" handle. The "business end" of it is metal of some sort, so you can bend it to shape. The microfiber is nice and thick, and is a removable, washable piece held on by some well-concealed (so it shouldn't scratch anything) velcro. When I saw it, I thought wow - this is just the thing for getting the barrel of a wheel on a car that has really tight caliper to wheel clearance. I'm going back there tomorrow and buying as many refills as they have on the shelf. Might buy a couple more of the wands as well.
I think it's going to be brilliant. A-HA! Amazon may have it. This one looks different, but at least I've found the refills. Tool, just one of them Tool, six of them to a case for $42.19 total Refills I'm not sure the tool is the same tool. Mine's got a metal core to it that you can shape. The Amazon descriptions above describe something that "conforms," and it definitely looks different than the one I posted earlier. Draw your own conclusions. OK, a rant about rubbermaid.com... <rant> I find it VERY annoying that you can't buy the thing on rubbermaid.com. So once I go back to the store tomorrow and buy all they've got - that's it. I've never seen this thing before, so I'm not confident I'll ever see it again. Let alone finding refills... So when I was poking around on rubbermaid.com, they asked me if I'd like to take a survey about their website. Well sure! I'll be happy to tell you how annoying this is that I can't buy the thing that I want on your website. So guess what? The survey is broken. Rubbermaidcommercial.com doesn't have it either. </rant>
Oh how convenient that you find this AFTER we do a car! You holding out on me on this gem, LOL. I will be looking for one of these tomorrow.
OK, I think the second (Amazon) one is probably functionally identical to the first (Lowe's Foods grocery store) one. I just took mine apart. It's a metal blade, encased in pretty high density foam robber that's glued onto it. The MF portion velcros on at the handle end, and is totally sewn all the way up it - no seams. Elastic at the handle end as well, to help keep it on. I think I see two screws on the picture of the amazon one, that hold the metal blade onto the handle, so I'm quite confident it's the same thing. Enjoy!
