so i decided to clean up my car in preparation for the rally myself and slanguage would have been attending today, the Royal Flush Road Rally. due to the rain, the event was postponed until next weekend. i wont get into it too much, as im sure we'll put a thread up with pics from the event etc. i just cleaned up the car, recorrected the hood, and gave her a coat of Bilt Hamber AutoBalm. i was worried i would get some wash induced swirls from washing it, but was happy to not have any. regardless, the BHAB looks outstanding in my opinion. and no i dont roll around with detailersdomain stickers on my windows like that. phil is a main sponsor of the event, so i had arranged with him to put the decals on there for the event. stolen from whoever does this, i forget: god i love this AutoBalm. now THATS black: and the rally setup: Garmin Nuvi, Valentine 1, and TomTom on Co-Pilot Side (not pictured) i should be in the midst of driving in this right now, but oh well. i'm sure we'll both post up pics next week after the event. there are going to be over 100 cars competing, including some new GTRs, Porsches, Audi A, S, and RS lines, S2K's, M3's, etc. its going to be a blast. link to thread on rally if any of you local guys would like to come next week: S2KI - S2000 Forums -> Royal FLush Rallies: Sprint for Soldiers: 8/16/09
Dang Billyblooshoes, I only have a 13" Monitor....Glad I got the slidebar :giggle: Sorry to here about the rain-out. But hey, you at least have the Smokin Hot G/F to hang with :cig:
i dunno. looking at them now, i think they're subtle enough that i probably could without appearing too "ricey". i guess it all depends on whether phil wants to give me a lifetime 20% off discount or something for being a rolling advertisement
Billy..the veedub looks great! Hey, what ever happened to that job opportunity? I didn't see a final thread?
The ones on the side are a bit much, however the one on the rear looks nice. I would roll with one on my R/B :headbang:
thanks rich! i'll PM you about it. ive been meaning to PM you about something else anyways. give me a couple minutes.
yeah i agree. the one on my rear hatch is always on there, i forgot to mention that. been on there for quite some time now.
thank you very much. im very pleased with my bilt hamber products thus far, even tho i only have the soft clay and autobalm, but they both rock! with all the hype flying around about the two, i was hesitant to jump on the banwagon for fear that they might just be another "fad", but these two prodcuts are really nice. the autobalm application is still a little hairy for me, but this was only my second time doing a full car with it, and putting it on the GTI yesterday was much easier than when i put it on the Audi i did a couple weeks ago.
Great job man to bad the rally got postponed till next weekend. I drive the E93 M3 hope to see you there next weekend!!!! Did you do the first one it was a lot of fun I had a blast. A lot of different type of cars attended from various clubs which is what made it so much fun. We had about 8 E90 series M3's alone at the event, which is more than I have seen road. I go with my car club which has a lot of exotics which I trying to make attend the rain date!!!!
shizah! now my setup is exposed! ha not that its anything that special. yeah im pissed it was cancelled. now i have to spend allll day next saturday cleaning up my car again lol. we'll see you there though!
Looks great, wish I could get my GTI to look like that and stay looking like that. I have some AB coming in this week I hope and cant wait to strip the car down and apply some!
you better get that paint meter soon 'cause you are polishing the GTI too much ... lol Nah dude ... great work as always!!
Billy the GTI looks amazing, I can't wait to get my own in a few months, I'll drive up to you if you wanna help me detail it whenever that time comes, hopefully sooner than later. I envy you with the DD sticker I would love to rock one on my truck. Good luck with the rally!
you'll love the autobalm. it really makes your car look really wet, as you can see from my pics. just make sure you put it on as thin as you possibly can. and i recommend doing a half panel at a time your first go around. do half a panel, and then buff it off right away. once that stuff hardens, youre in some trouble. you can apply it with a dry app, very lightly moistened app, or another way, which ken suggested to me once i get the application down pat, is to very lightly mist the panel with DI water first, then apply over top of that and buff off. its probably going to frustrate you at first, but you'll get the hang of it. just take your time. thanks buddy haha well gianni im such a good detailer that i can actually tell how much clear im working with by sight and touch. back to reality....nah she'll be fine. i only went over the hood again, as these bug splatters are wreaking havok on my hood! that stuff etches the clear after like a couple hours it insane!
are you getting a MKV or MKVI? what color? i'd be more than happy to help you out with your car once you get it. PM me your address and i'd be happy to send you a decal. i think i have some extras laying around. but you have to promise to save it to put on your GTI hatch eace:
