Well I was in for a treat, a good friend of mine just brought this vehicle in. The vehicle:

    2006 BMW M5 - BLUE!!! :woo:

Now the vehicle didn’t appear to be in bad condition:

Rims look good don’t they, till I took a closer look

Rims were going to require some attention to say the least.

The exhaust tips were going to require some attention as well:

Those exhaust tips are just not acceptable now are they :shakehead:

Well time to get to work, first I connected the CR System for Deionized water :thumb:

The entire vehicle was given a quick rinse and started off with the rims. First up with the help of my new containers filled with P21S Total Auto Wash the wheel wells were given a healthy coat:

    (Sorry for the blurry picture)

The rims received a healthy coat of P21S Gel:

Making sure to get P21S Gel all the way inside the rims:

Tires received a healthy coat of ARO. Now the wheel wells were quite tight, so tight that my hands hardly fit in the wheel wells but with the help of my black ShMITT I was able to give the wheel wells a good scrub.

Now for the inside of the rims, I started using the two inch wool brush:

    Making sure to get all the way inside the rims;

Now getting behind the calipers was a bit of a pain and the two inch wool brush wouldn’t fit so I had to use my one inch brush:

Now it was time to give the face of the rims a good scrub, this was done with the help of a Swissvax brush:

Even though ARO works quite well I still give the tires a good scrub with Meg’s tire brush:

Well this is how all that agitation looked like:

With Deionized water the wheel wells, rims and tires are given a good rinse:

This process is done to all wheel wells, rims and tires.

Now time to move on to the rest of the vehicle, once again the entire vehicle was given a good rinse and it was noted that it was beading, meaning it had some sort of protection. I wanted to make sure all protection was removed so I gave the entire vehicle a healthy coat of P21S Total Auto Wash with the help of my new pressurized container:
Like I said, the best thing about this container is that it doesn’t waist product, a gentle light foam mist is what it leaves on the vehicle :thumb:

Well now for the rest of the vehicle, the vehicle was washed with the two bucket method with Zymol Clear as shampoo and with the help of the Zymol Sponge:

Once the entire vehicle was washed and rinsed off it was time to clay the entire vehicle, the clay of choice is Riccardo of course :cheerl:

    Here is the clay before:

Here is how the clay finished off:
Clay may look clean but it really isn’t, this vehicle had quite the amount of contamination.

Well moving along, time to tape up the vehicle:

Once the taping was done with the help of my 3M Sun Gun it was time to see what I was up against:

Well I’ve taped sections of the vehicle and now to find the right combo, first combo was Menzerna 85RD3.02, Black 3M UK pad with Metabo at 1500RPM and 3M Backing Plate:

I tried this combo two times and it did nothing to the swirls/scratches, well it was expected. So moved on to the next combo.

Next combo was 3M UK Fast Cut Plus with another Black 3M UK pad with Metabo at 1500RPM and 3M Backing Plate, followed up with 3M UK Ultrafina SE with a Blue 3M UK pad with Metabo at 1800RPM with 3M Backing Plate.
The hard to reach spots I used the Ultimate blue and red foam pads, with the UK backing plate with my adaptor.

This combo gave me the following results:

Well here is how the entire finder finished off:

After the driver fender I made my way to the hood and here is a 50/50 picture of the hood with the combo mentioned:

Well I wish I could say I got the vehicle to 100% state, but regrettably this vehicle required wet sanding and I was all ready to go with the wet sanding but my friend had to take the vehicle away from me :shakehead: So I wasn’t even able to completely polish the entire vehicle. I barely got through half the vehicle….so I’m calling this round one :scared:

Well I managed to take some pictures of what I managed to get done on the vehicle and here they are:
Rims are looking much more presentable now, the rims received a good coat of DG# 105 :thumb: that should hold them off till the end of the month when the vehicle comes back to me :cheerl:

Boy do these head lights look good :worship2:

 exaust tips were done with Autosol :thumb:

Well I wish I would have been able to completely polish the entire vehicle this time around but my friend just couldn’t be with out his vehicle for a day or two :shakehead: but I can’t blame him, it’s a gorgeous vehicle and since he just got it he wanted to cruise around town for a bit to get familiar with it but I was promised that I’ll be able to complete the work I started by the end of the month.

Oh I did apply a coat of Divine on the vehicle before it left and you can really tell where I’ve polished :shakehead:

Well at least that proves 90% paint correction 10% LSP..or 80% paint correction 20% LSP..well you get the point

Oh the other thing I did was I applied a coat of DG#105 to the exhaust tips and I wanted to see how long DG last, if it lasts on the exhaust tips

Well sorry for the tease detail but even I felt bad letting the car go not even half way done :scared: I just cant wait to the end of this month :cheerl:

Well I couldn't let the vehicle go un protected doncha know lol...but I wanted to see the difference Divine would make to the vehicle un polished, it wasen't very impresive :shakehead: but I expected that

Yea, I know. But I can relate, I mean the guy orders the vehicle, waits two to four weeks for it to arrive, it arrives in the middle of the night and he can't even see it in good lighting let alone drive it lol. I was even lucky it made it's way to my garage. My friend prity much had to pry the keys of my hands as I didn't want to let it go...but he promised me he would bring it back at the end of the week...oh and this bad boy needs lots of work, lots of wet sanding on this bad boy :thumb: I cant wait. I'll get to make some videos of wet sanding :thumb:

Hopefully I'll have it back at the end of the month, vehicle is gorgeous and it's BLUE!!!!

FMINUS, I can totally see why you love this vehicle :worship2: :worship2: sweet vehicles, the sound when you start it it sounds so nice :druling: not what I was expecting to be honest and the interior is very, very nice.

I can't wait to get my hands on this vehicle, this vehicle may complete my detailing videos collection I wanted to post up here for you guys :cheerl:

Hey Nica, how did you like your new Orion sprayer and how many gallons does it hold? Also, where can I get some of those wool wheel brushes?

Looking very good, Nica. It's so nice to see a BMW in some color other than a variant of grey or silver. That new blue (and the red, too) is very sharp, especially when it's well polished.

The sprayer works great, I honestly didn't think I was going to like the long handle wand but it worked really good, specially when the wheel wells were so hard to get my hands in there let alone the spray bottle. I think it's 10L container

As to the wool brushes, I managed to get my hands on two sets of these brushes before they yanked them off there website. The thing with these brushes is like the Riccardo clay bars, there is a paten issue and they can not be sold to the public till the paten runs out  so if you ever see these wool brushes any where in the net world, get a bunch of them because they are totally worth it. I tried to order 20 sets of them but the online store that had them wouldn't let me purchase that many..lol..because they didn't have any left lol.

I agree, these vehicles should not be in silver, grey..ect..ect..the blue looks great, nice and deep. Thank you for the compliment but at the end I felt as though I didn't do anything to the vehicle as I couldn't completely polish it out and make it look as good as it can look.

I was very tempted on not opening the door to my garage and not let the car go but my friend promised that he would bring it back to me, he just wanted to show it to his friends and family.

Wool brushes are a long story, one that I don't even know the full story my self but something to do with a paten issue

AS for the Orion container..um...I'm on my Mac I don't have the website but I'll check when I use my Sony PC :sorry: it was Jayplay who posted the link, props to my home boy Jayplay :wicked:

Thank you LanceM but I feel as though I cheated on this vehicle, I feel bad letting it go like that :shakehead:

Great work on an incomplete detail, LoL. We have a 2005 530i that looks exactly the same in the same color but with the obvious differences between the two models. It truly is an amazing color!

So did you get those wheels completely clean because I'm curious if you did, hehe?

sweet work area and tools! I wish I had those things to work with when I detail. Nonetheless, looks like you've done a pretty job on the parts that were allowed to be corrected. I convinced my friend earlier on to let me have the car the entire day to get at least sealant over it before he could leave, haha!

Great job as always! Do you ever clean inside the exhaust tips? I had cleaned the inside of mine with ps21 gel(didn't have taw) and could not believe how black it was on the inside. The gel did a good job cleaning them too.

Yes, I agree lovely vehicles. I've always seen these M5's drive by but never sat on one nor drive one and I'm quite impresed. But they sure don't hold there value as well as I was expecting  but that's like any other vehicle.

As for the rims, yes I spent quite a bit of time getting them nice and clean, I had to clay the two front rims due to bits of tar mixed with rocks beign stuck on them. I used lots of Tarminator as well, Tarminator works well but it takes for ever to work :shakehead: Ooh and on the two front rims I had to use a little bit of Meg's Wheel Brightner, just on some spots. But they finished of quite nicesly...they had a bunch of glue on them as well..rims were quite the mess to be honest

Thank you SpecC, yes tools/equipment makes a big difference and I'm enjoying having all the equipment I currently have :thumb:

I figuired since it was going to be coming back at the end of the month or so, might as well put some Divine on it jsut to keep it protected :thumb:

Yes, I usually clean inside the exhaust tips..but I've never used P21S Gel in this area though. Actually if you look close at the exaust tip on one of them when I took the picture I forgot to wipe the left over Autosol, I did catch it and removed it but yes the inside is always quite dirty.

Thank you, but this is more like a 1/4 job not even 1/2 a job, hopefully roud two will be much better.

    Thank you sly :peace:

    I agree :cheerl:
