Whats your experience with this combo at 6.5 inches? Ive read orange pads can be difficult with the rotary.

i have found they are a bit difficult at first....after an hour or so on them they break in a bit and arent as hard.....i polish fresh paint with them all the time...they do cut well.....

I prefer softer foam, so I hate the LC orange pad. There are much better cutting pads out there IMO.

If you need an orange pad I would just go to a wool pad. Much easier to work with, corrects faster, levels the paint better than any foam pad will. Plus the benefit to the paint being leveled better is the gloss level is raised which in turn gives you a better finished product.

Well I'm not a fan of stiff/hard foam pads, instead of using a LC Orange pad you could always use the Meg's cutting foam pad, it's much easier to work with. Just my :2cents: though.

My orange and yellow pads collect dust. I wouldn't mind trying that new black foamed wool by 3M, but for now my PFW are great!

I really need to play with some wool pads. Hey Dan, did you get one of the wool pads we were discussing?

Have a link to the 3M ones?

Like AR said, I'd rather go with a Micro-Surface Tuf Buf wool pad. They finish down really well and I find them better than the PFW pads.

Ken, I am Dana, D&D is Dan. You are showing your age or one too many hits from playing hockey:D

I wasn't saying that brand of wool pads, I prefer 3M wool pads, but whatever wool works for you. I would like to try those wool pads out though, just haven't found any other wool pads to perform better than the 3m ones.

Hehe, perhaps we could swap one for one to try each other's out. :shead:

I believe there is a big price difference in the two pads, but not a bad idea if they were closer in price. Also you are going to need the adapter for the pads.

Are all the 3M wool pads 9 inches in diameter? What backing plate do you use for these wool pads?

Am I the only one who likes the orange pad from LC? But I prefere a wool pad like LC FWP over the orange, faster cutting and etc.

I like LC's orange pads also.

No backing plate, they are a doublesided pad. They use a screw on adapter. I believe they are an eight inch pad I have some still in the plastic in the basement I will check later to confirm the size.

What wool pad is that Dan?

Oh and did you ever figure out the part number to that 3M wool pad and adapter, Dana? I'm still interested in trying it out.
