Road Trip Ready! Fun with Painters Tape lol

I'm headed to Athens, Ga after work tomorrow. I wanted to cut down on rock chips and bugs on the paint, so I covered the front end and mirrors in tape. First time I did this. Hope people at work dont look at me too wierd. lol

I did an ok job, it was dark and mosquitos started eating at me.

 

I think you just created history with those pictures. Has ANYONE ever done that?.

 

I've seen people do it on autocross and other forums when they travel far for meets.

Last year some members of the Mitsubishi club I'm with taped up their cars for the drive from Vancouver/Kelowna to Calgary. One guy taped his ENTIRE car for some reason, and they all wrote all over the car before heading out lol

It's an alright idea. Have fun getting all the glue residue off hahahaa

Another method I've been told about is for you to wax the front end (obviously with a low end wax) and leave it on for the entire duration of the trip. Once you get there, just wipe it off, and everything else comes off with it. I don't really believe in that though, especially since the person who told me this (who is a detailer) never tried it himself - he'd simply heard it worked lol

 

I think the car looks meaner with the tape on. LOL i think you should leave it on, and maybe add some tape eyelids to the headlamps.

I've done that before haha.

 

I did it with my E36 M3... but remove it ASAP, and give it a qd wipedown atleast right afterwards!

 

Even time I go the the track there's always alot of cars taped up but that one's over the top.

 

We do this for all the long drives to shows. Make sure you take it off as soon as you can, also make sure the tape isnt flapping in the wind, scratched my hood slightly last trip.

There was a post 2 years ago about 2 guys that delivered a BMW or Audi to Calf. and they started from New York I believe..the car was taped up completely I think...and they documented the cross country cruise....it was a great post and to see the car was a funny site...they had autographs and pictures drawn on the tape from people along the way...it was about a 20 page post ...

Wish I could find it again..very good reading...so your not alone in doing this...lol....you will get some stares I bet...
