Wow it's been some time since I've done this before. I've learned a lot through out these years and it was blast doing my own car again. Anyways, I let my car go to hell exterior wise and since this meet came up I wanted to show off my car, and since it was a Concours type event I knew I had enough OCD in me to complete that daunting task.

Anyways, I'll spare the detail list as I only used these things to get the car looking like new again.

    Scratch out:

    and a couple of these:

After you see some of these pictures you'll wonder how the hell can a person that detail's others cars let their car get so bad?

Disclaimer: The before pictures may scar your eyes but they'll return to normal in due time.

The way my car sat the night of February 3.

On to the final shots when I got home from the meet. Finally get to explore Arizona again for new locations.

Now my question to you all daily drivers and I mean like 300+ miles a week what do you guys do about rock chips? Should I not care like I have over the years or try the Langka or Dr. Colorchip and cry when it mars my paint?

    Nice work!
Did you polish by hand or with a PC?

I am going to give Dr. Colorchip a go in the spring. I have heard great things about it.

Thank you! I used a rotary actually :)

You know I thought about it too, but the idea of wiping away with that liquid they use, kinda scares me. Maybe if you're very gentle and you can get away from maring the paint. I have plenty of touch up paint from the body shop, just can't get myself to do it.

What are you talking about? They're not there anymore ;)

    Thanks!

Pretty impressive how that many people flew in their cars from Germany and the Netherlands, wow!

you do really impressive correction work. that paint looks stunning. and dont feel bad, my GTIs paint looks ALMOST about as bad right now. wasnt my own doing though, lol. i put a lot of miles per week on my car too and as far as rock chips, i just deal. if i had done clear film from the get go when i bought it new it woulda been smart.

oh btw, did you ever end up getting that chatterbox lower receiver?

Haha! I wish, that would have been awesome actually. Everyone there unfortunately was an Arizona resident even me with my douchebag euro plate lol.

    Thank you!

I really appreciate that coming from you!

Thank you! She's my baby :)

Thank you! It's so hard to keep our cars clean. Honestly it's always been the last thing on my mind to wash my car. I remember when I first got the car I was out there practicably every day cleaning this and cleaning that. Now it was lucky to receive a wash once a month. Now that paint is cleaned up again I have to resort back to the care it needs otherwise I'll being doing this again :(

A little off topic and maybe questionnaire to post these images but here goes.

Now to figure out what optics to go with, I'm leaning towards the Trij TA11J. A buddy of mine has an Elcan Spectre that I lust for but I can't afford that thing.

I've actually seen the Dr Colorchip in person. It's not bad. I'd say it's worth a try since it's not expensive, and you've got the detailing equipment to deal with some light marring anyway.

Ideally my way would be repainting it every 3 years or so. This depends on the car though. If it's a beater, obviously, you won't care.

Only if someone payed us to correct our own cars and keep them clean. Until they do we will keep detailing other people's cars

you HAVE to enter those 50/50 shots into a contest the next time you see one pop up.
    you've got my vote.

You know what I'll give it a go and it looks like all I need is the liquid compound they have. Maybe even do a daily driver review. But man I was walking away from my car this morning and those chips seem to be multiplying every day

We'd be millionaires probably lol :thumb:

    Thanks for the kind words!!

    Thanks Kody!

VLTOR FTW. I run a VLTOR clubfoot. Your set up is very similar to mine, but im a lefty. Looks awesome.

Very nice! I'm also a lefty too, and I've adapted to shooting that way. It's so weird, my dominant eye is my left, I throw baseballs with my right hand, write right handed everything thing I can think of is right handed but when it comes to shooting it's left handed.

what is funny, and this had major field tactical advantages for me. I shoot right side for pistol, so the transition from primary to secondary was almost instant. It was funny watching people in classes or in training fumble around. But yeah, i have both a left and a right side AR. One is a colt, the other is a Stag/LRB/TROY set up.
