I just picked one of these up at HD and I must say this is the best shop vac I have ever used. The vacuum itself is really quiet and the suction is pretty amazing. The best thing about it is that is has a detachable blower that is extremely powerful (265 mph). The benefit of being detachable is that it blows clean air out instead of dirt like a traditional shop vac.

I use it to dry my car also and it does a really good job. Comes with a bunch of attachments and a 20ft cord. Great buy IMO.

Yes I have the same unit and I am very happy with it. I also have the one that looks like a a big tool box that I use when I'm mobile that works great as well

what was the price? I found a craftsman (similar) for about 100.00 the shopvac Ive been using is a POS. I need a new vac.
is the unit stationary, while the blower function is from the hose? that is a nice set up.......

I love my Rigid vac that I have. 30 dollars the day after Thanksgiving back in 04. Its not quiet by any means, but I can deal for now. I upgraded the filter to the nicest one you can purchase at HD and haven't noticed any ill effects from doing so. I would highly recommend their car kit that comes with the orange hose, so worth the 40 bucks. My vac would not allow me to adapt the smaller car hose without a slight modification which consisted of wrapping the large adapter with weather strip material to allow it to fit snuggly and not have any leaks around the connector.

Awesome, my Ridgid is still going strong after 5 years of usage. I have the regular filter, and the expensive filter. Both work great. I use the regular filter for when I'm vacuuming, then the nice filter for when I'm drying the vehicle. I did lose a wheel, so I'm three wheeling right now which looks a bit ghetto.

How much is this 265mph model?

I just did a search for that model on the Home Depot web site and it came back with nothing...

Ditto... Rigid makes really good tools. I have the one that looks like a sq. box without wheels and it works amazing for auto and office...

Thanks for all of the posts concerning Rigid.

I have a beater Craftsmen that is excellent, but have had my eye on the Ridgid vacs.

I'm likely to buy the Ridgid now from the great recommendations.

    Thank you guys.

FWIW, I have a Rigid pressure washer, and it is the type of product that when you are assemblying it, you say, "now this is why I spent the extra cash"...couldn't be happier with it.

I think I just found my next vacuum. It is the Metro vac/n blow 4hp, Costco has it for 159 and that is with free shipping. 95" of water lift FTW!

guys ... just my opinion but the 8 amp unit is the way to go... the one costco is selling is ok for door jambs but if you want to get some quick results drying your car with forced air the 4amp will take forever...

I'm not looking to dry a car, I'm buying it for the vacuum. I was looking at the larger one last night too.

The problem is the 8hp model is 20 amps, which most people don't have in their garages.

This Rigid Vac blows as strong as a leaf blower (265mph) and doubles as a regular vacuum too. I know the Metro is metal construction but damn that things expensive.

I have two RIDGID vacs and love them both. The bigger one I got is SUPER quiet and I use that thing all the time.

That's the one I have... super quiet and the most powerful vaccum I have ever owned and that's coming from a guy with a $2k+ Kirby home vac.
