Hello peeps, had a little extra time the past few days so I decided to try some new products on my car after stripping the protection, claying and doing a quick 1 stepper on the paint. First one up is the Menzerna Power Lock Sealant Since I do work with Phil @ DD i did have access to this for a while now but not until recently did i purchase it for my own cars. I have to say that so far I am extremely pleased with this product. The application is very simple and the removal is equally as simple. I have applied this with a 5.5 or 6 inch black uber pad via the Porter Cable on speed 3. With this method an even and thin layer is achievable. This sealant hazes and is ready for buffing off in a few minutes. Usually I will apply the sealant to the entire car and as soon as I'm done with that I begin to buff off from the first panel i applied the PL to and work my way around the car. I always check with my finger or knuckle to make sure the LSP is wiping off clean to ensure it has had enough time to haze. As i said in my experience it has only take a few minutes but time may vary depending on the weather in your area. I have been seeing posts on here saying that it mutes the paint? In my experience this is not true. Even on black cars it looks great. The muting some may have seen might be on a black metallic car where the pop of the metallic cause the paint to not look as deep. As for durability, it is supposed to last a good while. I will edit this part after having it on my own daily driven car for a month or two. To sum it up Pros: Super slick finish. Makes metallics pop, and also looks great on non-metallics. Easy on easy off, no streaking Cons: None so far. ________________________________________ Gtechniq Permanent Trim Restorer 3Snanocoat Used this on my car's cowl and mirrors and so far I am very impressed. Both items had faded horribly after 3 years. Application of this is a delicate process. My suggestion is to tape off any areas around the plastics before application. The results are shown below. And we will be getting some rain tomorrow so i will update after the rain to ensure it is truly a permanent. Update: We have had rain here for the past 2 days and as a test for power lock and gtechniq trim restorer. i have to say im even more impressed with the product because my trim is still a nice matte black color. Pros: The product does restore color to the plastic trim and keeps it, (so far) Cons: None so far ________________________________________ Sonax Sheiben Klar This product was sent to Phil, and to possibly be carried at DD. So far I have been reaching for this over any of the other glass cleaners we have. I love the smell of it and the fact that it cleans very well with no streaking. Still up to phil to see if it will be carried at DD ________________________________________ Sonax Upholstery & Carpet Cleans great and and smells great as well. (Makes up for the wheel cleaner smelling like sulfur). Smell might not be important to some, but after using CG Fabric Clean and having to go out for air every time i used it, i have been looking for something with a fresh non toxic sent, and so far this is not disappointing.
Thanks for the reviews ev. Have you tried the sonax carpet and upholstery on any serious stains or anything like that yet?
no prob and yes i did use this and a little elbow grease on the floor mats of a 993, an extractor for some reason was not doing the job but the Sonax cleaner did it easily. anytime :thumb:
Hey Ev ... thanks for the review hermano. How much dinero is that trim restorer? I'm looking for something durable.
no prob G, just checked the pricing from the uk to here. the trim restorer itself is 20 euros but shipping for that is 13.13 euros. so its pricey.
Let me know how long it lasts ... I need something less finicky that Black Wow. I recently bought PB's Trim Restorer, but I haven't had a chance to try it out yet.
sure thing, so far it looks awesome and hasnt faded. might have rain tomorrow so i will know how well it does then
The more I see Powerlock the more I want it. Also very interested in the trim sealant. Will be looking forward to durability on both. Thanks for the reviews
Thanks for the review, especially Gtechniq. I am buying a host of their stuff soon and am glad to see you are happy with the initial results!
2 days?? I know alot of the mild cleaning solvent restorers can do well that long... Even some of the non traditional trim protectants last that long.. Im curious for the rain update at 8 weeks cuz man is that stuff expensive...
i posted after two days of rain because most trim dressings wear off or do not look as nice after rain. especially on really dried out trim. I spoke with someone today who used it on their trim a year ago and it is still a nice matte black color today. ill give an update a few months from now to see if it really lasts that long.
I used the Menzerna sealant today for the first time, all i can say is im blown away the ease of use is outstanding and the shine left on my dads performance red mustang was amazing it looks as if the cars was just painted and not dried yet. Im extremely impressed with this stuff.Glad i got it.
