I finally found some time today to try out my new pot of Swissvax Insignis. And what a pleasure it was! One of the first thinks you notice about this wax is (apart from the watermelon smell) is how oily and soft it is. Very much opposite of my Saphir, which is gritty in form and quite hard. I used one of Phil's excellent Uber red applicators, which seemed rather large at first, but worked perfectly. As I said, the wax is quite soft, so all it took was a few dabs in the pot (no turns, no swipes) and you can really see against the red applicator how much/little you're putting on there. One of the things that really impressed me about this wax was how very very little you use. One dab would be good enough to do my entire bonnet. I think for my entire truck, I probably only dabs 6 times. Of course, application was a breeze, quite a bit easier than my Saphir and even easier than Souveran, which I didn't think was possible. Removal was stunning as well, which I did after about 10 minutes. I will report back on durability and beading, which are my two most important factors. I shall let the looks speak for themselves. All in all, very impressed. It's not a cheap wax, but with how little you use of it, I can see this lasting someone for a very long time. Disclaimer: pictures are straight out of the camera, I only resized them and added a black border. :applause:
Looks great Piet, I cant wait to use it on my whole car after I get back from vacation. It has been killing me that I have not been able to use it on the car but just scrap panels.
It looks awesome! My Zuffenhausen also smells like watermelon, and is quite soft. I'm really getting into SV line, thinking of getting Concorso next...
No it is not that soft, it gets pretty soft once an applicator goes across it a bit, or touches it a bit.
Wow!!! It looks awesome, and it makes me want to get some! Can't image how would it look like after SF is applied! Looking forward on the durability and beading!
Very nice.. do you mind telling me the price of Insignis? I have Concorso and was thinking about trying out Mystery.
Nice Review P1et! I see you're still keeping the black RAM looking great. I'm hope to find time to finish up polishing my black Z06 today.
MSRP on this wax is $375, but I would suggest sending Ketil (Pirex) a PM as he's the only one currently who can get you this wax. Thank you very much! This was shot on a 50D with a Sigma 10-20mm lens. Great to see you posting again sir, and yes, I try to keep it looking as good as possible. It helps that I live in Texas and that we don't get the downright nasty weather some other parts of the country get. I think it's time for you to post up some recent pics of your rides!
I have a detail of my Viper I did last month I could post up. It's sunny and 85 today in southwest Florida today. I'm glad I no longer live where it snows.
you lucky bastard.. i hate this cold weather . there calling for 20 degress end of the week..dammit. wish i had a heated garage.. owell. mybe in my next life.
I just heard on the news it got up to 86 today so I stand corrected. It suppose to be 85 tomorrow but cool off some by the weekend. When I lived in Michigan I had a propane heater in the garage. It heated up the garage well enough to detail and work on my cars all winter. You should check into one. They are not real expensive.
OK chappies, I just applied Saphir to the left side of the bonnet of the Explorer, and on the right hand side Insignis. Let the games begin!
