I have been using Sonus Leather Conditioner for over two years now. Last month I ran out of it and placed an order for more. To my surprise they changed the formula on me, which was a bummer since this has been my favorite leather conditioner, but after trying the new formula I was really impressed. So here is a little review. Product Name: Sonus Leather Conditioner Price: $9 - $10.50 Size: 8 OZ bottle Application: Make sure you clean the leather first then apply using your favorite applicator. No need to wipe off. Allow 15 minutes before use. Scent: A very pleasant and subtle leather scent. Color: White Consistency: The original version was a thin liquid, this new version is thicker, more of a cream. According to the manufacturer, they had to change the formula in order to polycharge it. Finish: Leaves a nice matte finish that is incredibly super soft. I was blown away by how soft my leather felt. It was a bit slippery at first, but this went away a couple of days later, but still very soft. Durability: This version is polycharged, which at first didn't make any sense to me since this is not a sealant or a wax, but it has been 4 weeks since I applied two coats to my leather seats and the softness is still there. Every other leather conditioner I have tried leaves your leather soft at first, but this quickly fades in a matter of days. Pros: Matte finish, leaves leather super soft, nice subtle leather scent, durability is incredible. Cons: A bit slippery and squeaky at first, but goes away within a couple of days and a small price to pay for the incredible softness. If the squeakiness would be an issue for me, I could simply add a base coat of LeatherMasters Leather Vital to the driver's seat before the Sonus to take care of it. Overall Comments: Absolutely the best leather conditioner I have used. Rating 1-5 (5 being the best): 5
Thanks for the review! I think I might give Sonus a try since I have yet to see any negative reviews for any of their products and have the impression it might be very underrated.
Definitely underrated. I hear their new polycharged sealant is also nice. I'll be trying the sealant soon.
You are welcome. I'm on the West Coast, so I get it from Dave at the Detailshoppe.com. He will match any price and the shipping is cheaper for me.
I also love this conditioner! Makes leather feel incredible. I've been using it quite a lot lately, and my customers always comment on how nice the leather feels.
I've used it on a couple of client cars and I also got some "wow" comments regarding the feel of the leather, which i had not gotten before from those two people. You can't go wrong with it. I also love the Sonus Leather Cleaner.
DavidB specifically formulated it for Porsche natural (uncovered) leather upholstery. For this type of leather I’ve found it second to none (inc LM)
Thanks dude. I really like both cleaners about the same, although GI I think is a little stronger, so I reach for it or LM for tougher jobs. I have a new bottle of the cleaner, which I haven't opened, so I wonder if that formula also changed. When it comes to the conditioner I definitely like this new Sonus formula a whole lot more.
Very interesting. So people working on Porsches should be reaching for this stuff. I believe the leather on my 07 Lexus is coated, but Sonus still works beautifully on it.
I used it on a BMW X5 with leather that had been neglected and it really gave it a gorgeous matte look and felt very soft. It DID squeak a bit, but the owner let me know that it went away after a day.
How many coats did you do? I did 2, which might have cause a bit more squeaking. I'll try just one next time. Still, it was not a big issue.
Give him a call, he will be more than willing to adjust the shipping rate (he did it for Lifemal above and does it for me all the time) by finding an alternate way to ship. Dave has great customer service.
