    Hi guys

Decided to test out my tub of Crystal Noir on my solid black GTR........well tub is an overstatement, its a 30ml dodo panel pot tub - though one coat didnt make much of a dent, and so it shouldnt at 50 bucks landed

In my latest quest to find deepening/darkening LSPs, ive pretty much hit the jackpot with Crystal Noir

After layering Lusso Oro i didnt think my paint could get any "blacker" but wow im totally gobsmacked after just one coat - layered over 3 coats of lusso which is still beading good as new. The black is so deep and wet, it looks awesome. Reflections though are muted, but thats not really what im chasing - if you want reflections on solid black, just use a sealant

I do think having lusso underneath it has helped the end result, lusso itself is a great colour deepening wax. I dont think the finish would have looked so deep/black if you went straight to Crystal Noir after correction

The wax itself is heavily tinted black, a shade darker than purple haze. I applied it using a 4" LC gold pad with the polishing pal, and it has now stained it permanently

The wax went on very smooth. It is quite oily, not as oily as lusso or vic red, but oily enough to spread quite far and allow you to do the whole car in one shot without the wax hardening/drying in the pad

I let it sit for 20 mins and noticed the wax had not dried to a haze but rather melted into the paint - there were quite alot of panels where you couldnt see the wax anymore. Upon removal it was still oily on the paint, but did buff off quite easily and didnt smear at all. Not quite the one pass removal of say Lusso, but still very easy

I have Autobrite Black Magic and Ioncoat Naviwax on the way, both tipped as darkening waxes on black paint, but i dont think it can get much better than Crystal Noir. Im going to have to order another tub because afaik production has stopped

here are the pics - was a cloudy overcast day here and my 5mp digicam couldnt deal with the glare that well

The finish really does look stunning, I saw a test with this wax on someones black leather shoe. They literally did a 50/50 and the side treated with Noir wax was much darker and blacker than the untreated. Seems like you got yourself a winning combo on a hot car!

Enjoy... BTW, launch control in the rain = beads flying off like crazy!

Kidding of course, that is clearly dangerous and irresponsible

looking at those pics ive realised this wax has really made the peel quite noticeable

but im not sure if its the Crystal Noir alone causing this, or the combined 3 layers of lusso underneath it

peel is one of the things ill start looking at when testing these new LSPs

edit - although not the same light conditions, this is after 2 coats of lusso. I rekon it is the Crystal causing the excessive peel

amazing car. has it been dirty yet?

looking forward to your review of Naviwax. the peel of the paint is quite noticeable, but are you willing do what it takes to correct it? if it were in my stable, i'd give it a trip to the body shop to get a few microns sprayed on:) other than that, there's now way around it.

this crystal noir has definitely made the peel look worse than it was straight off the buff - you can see my pic above even after 2 coats of lusso and swirl filling CK glaze the peel wasnt as bad

this is the most heavily tinted wax i have, so im assuming all the other LSPs i test out wont make the peel look so bad - as they are much more refined waxes in comparison

next detail for me will be the BF wet ice process, but ill let the crystal and lusso wear down over the next month with some heavy concentration foam fun pre soaks each wash

edit - peel was definitely nowhere near as bad with lusso

Car looks amazing. I personally like orange peel as it adds depth to the paint.

Thanks for the review. What tire shine are you running? I like it.

tyres are wearing Poorboys Bold n Bright

i agree, great looking tyre shine, sort of a semi gloss black

im not sure if it contains silicone, but i do know it really strips all the suds out of my wash bucket when i run a sponge over the tyres - not really a problem as thats at the end of the wash

I love Bold N Bright but I just apply it like a regular tire shine, instead of the weird directions on the bottle. I'll buff it down if I plan oon adding another tire shine on top of it (GI Tire Gloss on top of Bold N Bright makes for a great look).

tbh i dont want to spend too much time with a tyre shine

i apply it with one of those curved tyre foam apps, spread about 3-4 times on each tyre and done in about 30 secs per wheel

i only switched to B&B recently, i was using a spray on tyre shine for ages, but it was taking me longer as id have to wipe the wheel face afterwards, otherwise the brake dust sticks like crazy

hahaha yeh its winter here in Aus atm, and this is my daily driver

im all about the maintenance argument, if you maintain the car with proper regular cleaning, washing under the guards each wash for eg, its not too hard to keep it looking like new

but it is tough work keeping the paint swirl free washing off wet road grime every week

AFAIK it's not available in the states. It comes up on eBay UK from time to time.
I have a few tubs. If your keen to try it, I may part with a tub. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.
