Remove LSP ? (no hose available)

I threw some RMG topped with Pete's 53 on my buddy's car over the weekend and really liked the look so I decided I want to give it a shot on my daily drive (2005 Carbon Black M3).

I live in a condo and do not have access to a water outlet or hose. I know I can ONR wash followed by clay (Sonus Green) or IPA, but I want to ensure I minimize any marring since I don't intend to do any polishing.

Any insight on the safest method to remove my LSP when a hose is not available or am I just being ultra paranoid and I should just clay or IPA after my ONR wash?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions/ideas and putting up with newb questions like this ;).

    Hmmm.....

This is what I would probably go with.

    ONR wash
APC/IPA Wipedown (either, or one then the other)
ONR wash (To get all APC and/or IPA residue off)

    then lovingly apply the '53.

Not sure if that's what other people would go with -- but in this case I think it might be your best bet.

Doesn't IPA wipe down remove the LSP?

It does, I am just trying to determine the best way to reduce the risk of any potential micro-marring since I won't be polishing.

Kleen Strip Prep-All on a MF towel will do the trick. ONR wash first to get all teh dirt/contaminants off, then a wipedown with Prep All will remove the LSP. I suppose IPA after that to remove any residual Prep-All. You should be good to go after that.

Don't know if that's overkill though. If there's an area that needs polishing on my car for example, I just wipedown the panel with prepall, polish, then reapply LSP.

ONR wash then a IPA solution or a pure polish or paint cleaner will chemically remove any wax and will not mar the paint. Griots Garage also sells paint prep spray that will clean. If you are going to be using a nuba wax I would just go with some paint cleaner which will not only clean the surface but also give it a little more bling to the finish.

Oh yeah ONR will not harm the wax layer from bonding to the surface, the polymers that are left behind from ONR are not very durable and will "melt" away with the wax solvents, according to Dr. G.

Thanks for all the advice, guess I just needed a little reassurance (newbie ya' know ;)). I went with an ONR wash and then hit it with a 50/50 IPA/distilled water solution utilizing some of my better MFs. Did a test panel first, pulled her out into the direct sunlight and no marring that I could see, did the squeak test and all was good. I was just being a little over-paranoid.

I'd post some pick of the M wearing it's new coat of RMG and 2 coats of Pete's 53, but by the time I finished it was pretty much dark outside...maybe tomorrow, but 3 straight days of rain in the forecast :(.

    Cheers and thanks again!

I would stay away from any sort of APC or citrus soap products because you need to do a lot of rinsing when using either product. Again, just get the finish as clean as possible with ONR and move onto IPA type methods of LSP killing.
