Reload or Power Lock??

Hey guys like the title says, I'm looking for a sealant to replace MSeal. Obviously Reload would be the easier of the 2 as far as application but as far as durability which one is better. Can anyone chime in on these?

 

Haven't tried Reload yet but I have NEVER been let down by Powerlock. Great sealant, great longevity, great look, super easy to apply and take off.

 

Have you topped PL with a Nuba?

 

I have topped PL with CG Petes 53 as well as P21s Gray and never had any difficulties- i allowed at least 8 to 12 for the sealant to cure after wipedown of course

 

In the past I have topped it with Raceglaze 55 and Lusso Oro with fantastic results.

 

It's my understanding that PL is a 6-month type of sealant whereas Reload is a 2-3 month sealant. At least I think that's the case?

 

They are both nice products.

Reload will bead nicer.

Reload has the edge on looks.

Reload is an easy application but can get finicky.

Power Lock is a reliable product that looks good and is easy to apply.

Reload didn't last me all that long, winter conditions maybe 4 weeks. Tops.

Powerlock would be my vote, always impresses me.

 

same here, topped on Cquartz it was hard to really get a idea, but I put it raw on my truck and it lasted me about 6 weeks. HOWEVER, it is so easy to apply, and beads and sheds water far better them powerlock. You honestly can't go wrong with either.

Powerlock is more of apply, then walk away. I would recommend applying reload, then maybe every 4 weeks top it off after you wash the car. But this is coming from someone who enjoys trying new stuff, using different stuff a regular basis. I think when you talk overall durability, it best applies to senarios where you live in an area such as the east coast where 4-6 months you will not be washing your car due to weather and want the ultimate in protection. During the rest of the year, durability for me........ Im happy with 4 weeks, happier if it lasts longer. Sometimes ill strip my car just because I bought something new. Guys, no real wrong answer, but Reload is a top drawer product and does have some great protection, just more "high maintance" if you versus a traditional sealant.

as for application, you can spray it all over the car after you wash while its still wet, but to me that is a waste of product. I like to spray a MF towel, with distilled water, then mist the panel and wipe it down. more control, less high spots.

 

I really like to strip the cars every 2-3 weeks just to try new stuff, I may get both or maybe just get the 4 pack of reload from Phil.

 

Can you use reload on top of powerlock... ?

 

I'm a big fan of Powerlock, especially topped with a good nuba. Never used Reload, but I have used a few other sealants, and I keep going back to Powerlock. It's easy as pie to apply with a DA, and lasts a LONG time.

Hate to bother you guys again but I'm loading up my cart on DD and I think I may go with Body Wrap instead of PL or Reload. One quick question, I have a Flex 3403 and its lowest speed it 1000rpms would this be ok to apply the BW with? Also I plan on buying shine and seal

 

I think I've read somewhere on here that it waste more product by using the machine to apply it. It takes too much to put on the pad, slings off, etc. It's really not that hard to apply it by hand. It just takes a little more time to spread it out really thin. Shine & Seal I've heard is awesome. Unfortunately, when I bought the Body Wrap, Nano Shampoo, and Nano QD I didn't have enough money to buy the Shine & Seal. Can't wait to try it out though.

 

body wrap is easy enough to do by hand.

I just finished a new car prep with it and it looks great!

 

Phil did you use S&S? If so was is done by hand also
