It will all depend on how badly contaminated your paint is as is discussed in togwt's article. I have found the Clay Magic Blue to be able to remove pretty much anything with ease when used in conjunction with their #49 Body Shine lube. Although finer clays may work, the amount of effort needed with some of the clays just isn't worth saving a few bucks. I have only had the CM Blue marr the paint on two vehicles in 17 years. Both were black RRovers.

I have some water spots and would that Hi-Tech Body Sponge work for me? Is it a good all around tool?

From the write up the Hi-Tech Body Sponge would cause surface marring. What product can I use to minimize surface marring but take out water spots on a black vehicle?

What about CG water spot remover? I have a full bottle, but haven't had a chance to try it yet.

Given that Danase Wet Glaze and CG Ez-creme are almost the exact same product, I would say Danase and CG water spot remover are probably the same thing too.

BTW OP, go with clay magic blue if you are removing contamination. For water spots, use a water spot remover or paint cleaner, tarminator for tar, etc.
